Scratches on lower front bumper
I was careless and put a deep scratch on my left lower front bumper
This is a leased car so I guess I have to fix it before lease end... Is there any way to fix it myself? or how much will it cost at body shop? BTW is there cover to protect those corners? |

hard to tell from the picture, but that might still squeak by on lease return. they have a size allowance for scratches.
no cover would've helped with that one though.

A front lip would have helped avoid those scratches and your car would also looks better. You too can always remove the lip before the lease ends and sell it.

Your best bet if one of those mobile bumper repair guys. I see you are in the OC. I can recommend the guy I used to fix my Audi S5 bumper. He did a great job.

That is deep damage to the plastic, will need some decent repair time and repaint. To have it done right at a body shop (remove the bumper cover and all trim, repair repaint and re-clear the whole part and re-assemble) will cost you about $700-900 depending on the cost of labor in your area.
No cover would have done anything unless it was made out of titanium LOL

Lease return policy allows scratches less than 4 inches, do you guys think I could perform a "minor" fix just to get away with lease end wear and tear fees? |

Its a crap shoot depending on who inspects your car. I think the scratches they look for are superficial ones, not like the deep gouges you have. A bumper repair guy will cost something south of $200.

2000 grit wet sand very very light pressure. Menzerna 400FG with a moderate pad on a DA polisher to get out the sand paper scratches. I'd start with an orange pad but maybe get a bit more aggressive. Dr colorchip. You'll still be able to see the gouge to a degree but a lot less. It might be enough to get a pass.

You guys need to learn how to drive or park. I guess all of you has lowered the car right?? Watch your driving skills on uneven road to avoid that.

yeah, normally I park 1-2 feet away from the curb but the one time I am not paying attention while pulling into a parking spot I hit a very low curb!!!

It is easy, but it will help to get your car up on ramps. Consider buying a non-OEM lip on ebay. The good ones have essentially the same fitment/quality as OEM and they are half the price (under $200). That's cheaper than a quick repair, will cover your damage, will look good and when you return the lease, they will not yank it off to check damage underneath.
Several threads on this and many of us can answer questions on the process. |
