Weird noise after engine shutdown

Any idea what the sound (ticking) might be coming from?

To me it sounds like a pump ... but it's odd that I can only notice the sound after the engine stopped.

i'm not able to hear the noise here because of limitations at work but I know that on my Z4 the water pumps continues to run even after it is shut down if the coolant temperature is high. So i suspect you are hearing the water pump.
