seat memory settings

Hey guys,

I have a question and was wondering if you guys are experiencing the same thing? I have set memory setting 1 as my normal driving position and number 2 to recline when I'm parked and waiting for someone.

When you guys changing from one setting to another, do you just press and release the button? Or do you have have to hold down the button while the seat changes until it's finished?

I always thought it would be a simple one touch but in my car, I have to hold the button down.

One touch when driver door is open.

When closed, for safety reason, you have to hold.

I'd like to add a question to the thread...in my E90, when I would unlock the door, if my wife had driven previously, the car would recognize my key and move the seat automatically...doesn't do it in my F31...a setting that I need to turn on maybe?

50% of the time I just press it once and 50% I have to hold it. I don't get it.

Nope--ignition on vs. ignition off.

Check your iDrive settings and make sure you have selected to recall the last seat position for your profile. It's not about the memory position--it's where you left the seat last time your fob was used.

Every fob remembers the seat position as you get out and lock your car. It's saved the instant you press lock so the next time you go to your car and unlock, it will automatically move the seat to that last saved setting.

See that's the problem...our 335 did that...my F31 does not

If my wife would hit the button by accident while driving, it could get quite dangerous (for whoever is in here way ), because the seat would move in a position where she could not push the brake pedal anymore.

Exactly.

Imagine a couple where one person is 6'3" and the other is 5'1" (I know a couple like this LOL)...now imagine the 6'3" person bumps the button while doing 65-70MPH on the highway....and that seat starts to crush him up against the steering wheel and fold his legs into the well.

My wife and I use fairly similar seating settings so I haven't really tested or messed with the seat memory settings to see if they recognize the FOB, although that is my understanding of what they are supposed to do.

I use my seat buttons a bit differently, I have No. 1 for when I am wearing extremely Thick sole Shoes that I usually wear to work, and No. 2 is set for when I am wearing sandals or slippers.

I Setup a "Profile" called "Relax" and save my seat setting and choose that whenever I have to wait, or want to relax in the car. It works very well, It even changes the A/C, radio, and mirrors (so I can see who is coming up behind me if I'm relaxing, LOL)
