My car took a shit (i think).

So, here goes.

Two days ago I noticed an unusually loud and rough cold start (I put 4 gallons of E85 in the car the night before on an otherwise full 91 tank with JB4 on Map 5 - nothing out of the ordinary). My car is just about straight pipe and it cold starts louder than hell. I let it warm up as per usual and start to drive off.

I notice at that point that my gear shifts are very rough and that power seems to be cutting in and out depending on RPM and throttle position. At the same time I notice that my intake is louder than usual just over 3k. It was now making an additional noise that sounds kind of like steam blowing out of an iron except much louder. Next up the car starts throwing CEL and Drivetrain Malfunction like a Christmas tree on the 25th . I've seen this many times before as I work for the dealer, so I proceeded to restart the car. To my dismay, the issue wouldn't go away and I quite literally didn't feel comfortable driving the car as I had no idea what the f it would do next. My shop foreman told me to manually shift at 3k until I was able to bring it back in to the dealer which I did today. Talk about a sketchy almost limp mode 23 mile drive.

Now I'm in a base 428 GC awaiting the diagnosis and I'm nervous. It almost sounded as if my intake popped loose but I peeped under the hood to find nothing.

Any ideas as to what the hell is going on, guys?

I recently had CP installed and really hope it wasn't due to a bad install job.

Symptoms:
-rough idle
-jerky shifts
-power would come on randomly while at a stop
-conversely while in motion, the pedal almost went to the floor while producing ECO mode like output
-CEL
-Drivetrain malfunction

I'll update you guys as soon as I get word from my tech.

Also, I don't track my car and never push past 5k.

Do or did you have any way to read the CEL ?

I'm no mechanic, but those symptoms sound similar to what I got with a cracked / split chargepipe "too much air in circuit" so some kind of leak in the circuit perhaps ?

I learned the hardway...if they didn't carry the O-rings/and TB-seals over from the original CP and IC, this is your problem with the jerky shifts and weird idles/CELs....

And I had a reputable shop install mine.

+1 on that..

If the CP was installed recently (last couple days) this is the first place I would look.

It's just a busted charge pipe in typical doom and gloom fashion.

Turns out there was a leak in one of the elbow bends. They tried to put me together on some crap about how the car made adaptations over the course of a year and a half since my mods have been on and has "learned around" the JB4 and mods

Sounds the same to me. I just had this happen for the third time today.

GUYS the leak issue is now fixed.

But now, the car sputters hard and sometimes dies on a warm start. I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep the RPM up and away from dying. Any reason you can all think of?

Could it have anything to do with the fact that I unplugged my JB4 when the leak occurred and now the car and JB4 need to "re-acclamate"?

I would check for a vacuum leak if you are having problems keeping an idle. There is a vacuum hose that runs between the chargepipe and intake, make sure it is connected on both ends.

The n55 doesn't have any vacuum in the intake manifold due to the valvetronic system, sounds more like a possible air mass meter issue, make sure its not clogged or blocked

Car is in the shop and I will get an update tomorrow. Also, spark plugs are original.

Why, how often (mileage wise) should the spark plugs be replaced on the N55? And...does this change if there's a tune involved?
