F36 428i door lock pins
My car is 428i Gran Coupe, I just found it is extremely difficult to pull up the door lock pins to unlock the door without press Unlock button on the center.
Especially, my kids need to wait until I press unlock button in the front seat to unlock the door. Anyone has the same issue?? |

You can code the car to auto unlock when you turn the engine off.

Those pins are not designed for unlocking the doors. They're pretty much just a legacy from old school manual doors.
Pulling the door handle will unlock the door. Pulling it a second time will open it. |

Thanks, just a little bit concern about emergency situation. You may not have time to pull the door handle twice to open it. Or you don't want child lock on all the time and the little kids may able to pull handle twice to open the door

Also, the child locks are in no way connected to the standard door locks. Child locks do not lock/unlock the doors - they disconnect the interior handles from the opening mechanism. If the child locks are on then it doesn't matter if the doors are locked or not. The interior rear door handles will not work regardless. That's what child locks do. Unfortunately, apart from handcuffs, child locks are the only way to be certain that kids cannot open the doors when they're not supposed to - but that's the same for pretty much any car I can think of anyway. |

Agree with above.
Those pins are going way of the dodo. I can't see why they exist (in a Bmw ) nowadays. Also I cannot recall ever using the door pin in a Bmw. |

The pins are a visual sign from outside to see if your doors are locked or unlocked. They're not supposed to be pressed or pulled, I'm sure

BMW should just switch over to the blinking red LEDs like VWs have. Less moving parts in the doors might help with reducing the rattles.
