How much do you think you will *actually* pay for your M2?
We all want a good deal, but once it comes down to purchasing your M2, how much do you think most dealers will *actually* charge for your M2? Above MSRP? MSRP? Invoice?

I have an agreement in writing to pay msrp and the #1 spot. They say it will be 51k. So I imagine 55k. All I will add is heated seats, back up beepers, Harmon karmon and sun roof delete. Oh also lbb 6mt with black grill.

I think most will be MSRP. My dealer is asking MSRP but I'm going to try to get them down when I go see them on Saturday. I might end up not getting it if they don't work with me...we will see.

Under MSRP, but only because I would get it after LCI. If at all.

For the first year, MSRP will be a good deal. I know my local dealer will slap $5K "market value adjustment" for sure - maybe higher. Needless to say, I will not be buying from my local dealer.

I think it's close to 50/50 either right at MSRP or above at least in the Orange County/riverside/LA counties of Southern California. I've called lots of dealers and on the waiting list at 5 of them "promising" MSRP. About half of the ones I called clearly indicate they will be asking above msrp but that's just in my area. If you look at it from the perspective there will be 700 cars and ~350 dealers in the US and what is expected to be a highly anticipated and well reviewed car and you have yourself the perfect recipe for dealer markups. This car will be scarce, really scarce for quite a while.

In the beginning I am sure a lot of dealers will try to do a market adjustment to test waters so to speak. Not sure how long that will last but when the 2017 comes out that should go away.

You have been very active on this site and had been so hung ho on the M2,and anxious about any news on the m2. Now your looking at LCI or f80's that you previously said we're too big. I don't understand the logic here. What, you don't like the M2? It's absolutely gorgeous, right sized and likely a bast to drive. In am stll on board with the M2 in LLB and 6 speed manual.

Why am I backing off the M2 for now (key word)? - the biggest reason I was on the list was in case it was as limited as the 1M. Even though it'll be hard to get one the first year, it's still going to be made for 4 years, so I'm no longer worried - related to the first part. The first M2s won't hit the US until late Spring 2016, assuming you can even get one (rumor which I believe is that there'll only be 600 the first year). At that point, you're only 1 year from LCI. It's not like I need the car THAT bad. Not to mention everyone will be paying MSRP at the very least. There would definitely be more room for negotiation in a couple of years - It's a bit heavier than I had hoped. But not enough to completely deter me away - I realized that I'd rather have a 4 door than a 3rd coupe. What would I really add by getting an M2? The E36 I have is a good 300-400 lbs lighter and more nimble than the M2, and if I got the F80 M3, it would be more practical while still having the more potent engine. Don't get me wrong. I think the M2 is a very cool looking car that will be more fun to drive than the F80 IMHO. I'm still not ruling the M2 out. If it's THAT good, I'll get one towards the end of production, and get rid of the E36 for some type of an M sedan. Sorry for the ridiculously long answer

If I choose to stay for the M2.
I have a signed PO for ED MSRP. I have a $1000 fully-refundable deposit down I am 1st on the list. I Don't think anyone of us that are #1 or #2 on a waiting list is in a position to negotiate down from MSRP for the 1st cars available for delivery. With production delays already and available initial allocations for '16MY, MSRP seems fair. I already chose to walk away from Dave Walter BMW b/c they were only offering ED at US MSRP. Nah thanks! I am not saying exceptions will not occur for getting a few crackers off MSRP either. But MSRP seems reasonable for all of '16MY cars. '16MY should only be on-sale for 4-5 months total.

Yeah, I agree that most dealers will be charging MSRP. Some will try to add on "market adjustments" to take advantage of buyers who aren't savvy, but you'll almost certainly be able to find some dealers selling at MSRP.
You'll probably have to wait longer for it to drop significantly below MSRP. I'm guessing six to nine months, though it's possible that a few dealers might try to undercut their competition, especially for Internet sales. |

Allocations are going to be an issue in the beginning. My dealer said MSRP and maybe little better than that We'll see.

Will the M2 be a 'limited production vehicle' like the 1 series M was? Sorry if this question has been answered already.
I would gladly pay msrp if it meant I got an allocation to be one of the first owners of it. I just got my M3, so I'm not allowed to even sniff at the idea of getting one. But damn, this thing is so sexy. I'll have to think real hard to some how convince the boss that I need the M2 haha |
