In a 2 door, you have to hold the seat movement button to move the front seat in order to give room for people to get into the back. No one ever does this and I constantly have to explain to new people how it works. And for some reason it's not very intuitive. They don't get it.

I think it would be pretty easy, and very cheap to retrofit a switch that moves the seat forward automatically.

I believe this can be accomplished by placing a limit switch where the back seat latch is located and then run wires from that, splicing into the input and output of the 'move forward' button.

The general idea would be that when you move the seat back forward, the limit switch is hit, this then completes the circuit that would normally be closed by pressing the existing button.


When the seat moves all the way forward it automatically stops due to an existing limit switch.

When the seat back is move back into normal position, the limit switch is no longer hit and the circuit is open.

I'm reaching out for help because I would like to obtain the wiring diagrams from the seats so that I can study before hand.

If anyone has this information please provide it. When I do the retrofit I will document it in the DIY section.

I completely agree with you. People always try and squeeze in before the seat is moved enough.

Wouldn't it be easier to just modify the existing switch (by the handle) to stay engaged once pressed? This would apply for both directions and neutral position for off.
