Carly App for iPhone
So I bought an Elm 327 that was supposed to hook up wirelessly. The POS apparently doesn't work. Whether I try wifi, or Bluetooth, it never shows up on the iPhone or iPad. So can anyone tell me the best way to use the Carly App? Do I need a cable, a different wifi gizmo? Thanks for the help.

I use it from an iPhone 6 - absolutely no issues. You need to connect your iOS device to the WiFi hotspot (SSID = ivini-"something") that the Carly creates.
And ensure your car is running. |

(Android guy here) but I think what he meant was connect to the wifi the obd2 is transmitting. Since Apple can't use bluetooth connection, therefore is the need for the wifi dongle.

I use Elm 327 "WiFi" version (it will say it on your Elm.) I bought from Ebay for $15 with iphone no problems. Works great.
You will need to disconnect from your "home" network and connect to Elm 327 only. the SSID for me was ""Wifi_OBDII" for the Elm. I think I mentioned that in your other post. |

The adapter broadcast the SSID and if you don't see it on your phone either there is no power to adapter or adapter antenna is not working. |
