Carly App for iPhone

So I bought an Elm 327 that was supposed to hook up wirelessly. The POS apparently doesn't work. Whether I try wifi, or Bluetooth, it never shows up on the iPhone or iPad. So can anyone tell me the best way to use the Carly App? Do I need a cable, a different wifi gizmo? Thanks for the help.

I use it from an iPhone 6 - absolutely no issues. You need to connect your iOS device to the WiFi hotspot (SSID = ivini-"something") that the Carly creates.

And ensure your car is running.

Shouldn't it just connect to my house wifi? Nothing remotely close appears for me to connect to.

(Android guy here) but I think what he meant was connect to the wifi the obd2 is transmitting. Since Apple can't use bluetooth connection, therefore is the need for the wifi dongle.

I use Elm 327 "WiFi" version (it will say it on your Elm.) I bought from Ebay for $15 with iphone no problems. Works great.

You will need to disconnect from your "home" network and connect to Elm 327 only. the SSID for me was ""Wifi_OBDII" for the Elm. I think I mentioned that in your other post.

Could you post a screenshot of all SSIDs that are presented for you to connect to? Or list all the SSIDs here?

(The ivini-**** SSID is for the Carly)

Then your ELM is DOA.

The adapter broadcast the SSID and if you don't see it on your phone either there is no power to adapter or adapter antenna is not working.
