What the previous owner paid for car?

Is there a way to find out what the PO paid for a certain car?

Try searching the VIN on google and find previous "sold" listings on websites. Worked for me on my 328i.

I'd love to know what the dealer gave the original owner on the car I bought. She traded it in for a new Beemer and I know the dealership wasn't going to tell me LOL.

Nothing pulled up on Google. What website listing are you referring to?

You can do a rough estimate.

Take vehicle's original msrp. Add all options, delivery charge and taxes. My estimate for my car was spot on ( later, I saw the invoice and confirmed it)

http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/2011-BM...s-Price-c22224
http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2011/...pecifications/

Example:
Base price 37650

Options
Convenience package 1500
Cold weather package 900
M sport package 2800
Premium package 1950
Leather 1450
Navigation 2100
Hk sound 875
Metallic paint 550

Total cost was over 50k (after taxes and delivery)

Was there any documentation like the registration left in the vehicle? Sometimes you can reverse calculate the amount paid based on the sales tax paid. Or if you know their name, you can contact them and ask!

The only way to really know is to ask the previous owner, or track down some paperwork. Dealers obviously aren't going to release the paperwork on a prior sale. I have looked at cars before and the salesperson told me what they gave for it on trade-in. But you don't know if they are being honest.

Once I was looking at a three year old used car. In the glove box was the original owner's purchase paperwork. They were asking $600 less than the original owner paid new. I told the salesperson they were crazy and left. This was on a Honda, nothing special.

We also just bought a used car from a dealer and the paperwork was in the glove box with the original owner's purchase price and trade information. The car we bought before that (again from a dealer) also had the paperwork in the glove box.

Thanks for the input guys I've noticed that in the drivers side door jam there's a bar code with a website that says my dealers lot. Maybe if I scan it it'll bring something up? Don't know why I care so much just curious to know what they paid

Why does it matter what they paid for it?

Too damn much lmao. Don't think I can bring myself to buy a brand new BMW when I know how bad they depreciate.

Sticker on my car was in the glovebox: $49K (2010 328ix Coupe with Sport/Premium/Navi/Cold Weather).

I bought it with 24K miles for about $29K.

My car was originally a lease and all the original paperwork and even the letter from the dealership to the buyer of the car was in there lol. Came with a huge white unfolding book with DVDs and original price tag on window and even negotiating notes from day it was bought.
