How much TQ can our clutches handle?

Down pipe and a tune from GSR. When i shift hard from 1st to 2nd i'm not sure if i'm spinning a bit, traction control kicking in or if i'm slipping... i ALWAYS drive in sport +

I'm pretty sure my TQ is over 400 at the wheels....

Thanks in advance.

Try doing it uphill, and in SPORT, and not S+.
If your revs go up faster than you think you should be moving, it's your clutch.

He said he's running a GSR flash tune and a downpipe. If that downpipe is catless, he's at 400 or damn close.

I doubt that it's your clutch that's slipping with that torque. If it were, you'd smell burning clutch (an acrid, electric fire-like smell) which would stick with the car for a while.

+1
Clutch smell is horrible so you would notice. No unusual smells - all is good.

Careful on the clutch. I have the GSR tune on my manual. We dyno'd 417wtq on the stage 1. I burned through my clutch in about 2 months. On the new one I did the clutch CDV mod and I make sure the clutch is fully engaged before hammering it. Be easy coming out of 1st to 2nd even if you're racing someone because 3rd gear has long legs and heap of power has been tune for that 3-6. Also , don't downshift if don't have too. Cheaper to replace the brakes then the clutch. If you do want to downshift to get the rpms up make sure you do good rev matching.

I'm actually about to order a stage 2+ clutch kit from SPEC CLUTCHES. You should too! my clutch is slipping shifting from 2nd to 3rd and shifting from 3rd to 4th. And I dyno'ed my car in a dynojet at 402whp and 478wtq ftlbs.

Great info. I've been curious about this lately because there have been times something did seem to be slipping. I'm not sure if its in my head. I think the CDV is a real bitch and hurts quick shifting so I wasn't sure if it was that or the clutch or tires. 228 GSR stage 1. I'm putting out about 330wtq. Have you ever looked in the BC menu for codes related to this? (secret menu)

The CDV stock definitely makes the slipping feel and it actually might be causing additional slipping. Just be smart about how you engage the clutch. You can forego the CDV mod and just delete it. Be sure to have the brakes properly bled afterwards. Even if you only loose a little brake fluid you can introduce an air bubble and your clutch will feel stiff. I have not looked in the secret menu for codes I use third party apps for that. What codes are you thinking may be there? TQ / drivetrain codes?

Let us know how that goes. I've heard anything outside of the oem clutch it is loud and rattles a lot. I thought about the upgrade too, but some of things I read turned me away. Since I've been very conscious about my clutch and waiting for it to engage it's working great with all the TQ I'm putting down too. I think the bonus for us manual drivers is going to be the DV+ since by the time we shift the boost has dumped and needs to be rebuilt. With the DV+ I'm thinking that the boost will hold even if it takes 1.5 seconds to shift and engage the clutch and 17-18 psi is still on tap.

Yeah I'm a fan of CDV delete. I did it on my last car and it made a huge difference. Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge, with the newest bmws including mine, it's impossible to delete it as its incorporated deep into the system. If you know otherwise please let me know! Thanks for the tips though.

I was thinking maybe if there was anything related to slippage..
