My car is totaled
So this past Thursday I was driving to work and some dick head stopped short. Once he stopped short someone hit him and then someone hit that guy and so on until I was caught up in it.
Thankfully no one was seriously hurt (airbags are an incredible invention) and I walked away with just some burns and a fractured wrist. I know I should be thankful I'm ok and I am but the fact that I just got new turbos from BMW in July, spent $2200 redoing my suspension (struts/shocks, springs, bushings, labor, etc) in July, and $700 on new tires and powder coating my wheels in March just really pisses me off. This car was a car I had wanted since I was 18 years old (I'm 24 now) and now that its gone no other car that I can afford and has the options I want seems to interest me. Anyway, the car was officially declared totaled on Friday.

Sucks... And I totally get it. You just put a bunch of money into the car. But like you said... Just have to be thankful no one was seriously hurt. Stuff happens.. Life goes on

A least everyone ok. If you have full coverage....ask your ins if they willing to put all your latest expense into the payout. I was able to do to since I paid for some repairs b4 my accident... my adjuster asked for last 3 months of receipts. She was able caculate that into my pay out. Glws w/ next purchase.

Thanks everyone! I am happy I am ok, I just loved my car is all

A few reasons for this are: 1. I live in a busy area of Boston and I don't have an assigned parking spot which means I have to park on the street so I don't want a car that I will get super upset about if it gets any dings and scratches (which is bound to happen). Although I have to say, their is a college kid across the street from me who parks his brand new M4 right on the street. He has some big balls 2. Outside of a $6k supercharger kit there isn't much to do power wise so I won't be tempted to spend any money on mods. 3. NA engines generally give you less to worry about than FI engines. 4. Although not nearly as nice, it is much cheaper than a comparably equipped BMW. I figure in a couple years when I am making more money and have an assigned parking spot then I can get another BMW or a car that I actually want.

But most importantly, you're okay. Hope it all works out.

+1. Nothing wrong with switching to an Infiniti. Besides the 07 335I that I just purchased I also still own an 05 FX45 and what a great car it is. And in IMHO Infinitis have one of the best sounding exhaust notes out there. Not that I am loving my BMW but yes, Infinitis are surely great cars.

I know exactly what you mean about a nice car and a shitty parking area. I have to park my 335i in a rough neighbourhood sometimes.
Would getting a dash cam with parking mode help? You will still get the dings, but if they are bad ones, and you get the other car on camera, you should be able to claim against them if they are insured. That alone would make me feel better |

I kinda wish someone would total my car to be honest lol (its paid off). Although i would never intentionally do it, i wouldn't mind getting 20 grand then buying it back, and selling the goodies to get more $ and buy a newer M4

I have thought about buying my car back though and parting it, the 2 turbos have less than 5000 miles and those alone would prob get me $3k. Only problem is I have no where to keep the car while I am taking it apart.

I like the idea of the storage garage. The problem though is that I honestly don't think I have the mechanical skills needed to take apart my car and even if I did, I don't have the required tools. I also just moved to Boston 2 months ago so I haven't met anyone in the area that knows and likes cars enough where they would help me.

I test drove G35 back in the days....ended up buying M3, then test drove G37...ended up buying 335i....and test drove 2012 G37 few weeks ago and really wanted to like the car but I couldn't get past the cheap Nissan quality, bought IS350. Dont get me wrong, it drives nice, engine / suspension work good, and perhaps its more sporty then Lexus, but quality-wise its just a small step up from Nissan and is nowhere near luxury feel.
