New competition - C450 AMG

New Mercedes AMG 450 arrives middle of next year. perfect competition for the 340, and in estate guise it looks the part to me.

Thoughts?

That looks quality, thats where BMW are lacking, although the 340i is awesome it doesn't have the wow factor any more than any other 3 series, theres a huge gap between 3 series and m3 and this and the s4 fill those gaps in audis and mercs range

Really stands out from the standard limp looking c class which if you were spending the extra you'd really appreciate

Remember reading about this 6 months ago and adding it to my next car short list. I agree that in estate form this looks a superb option. Saloon styling doesn't do it for me and not as nice as the 3 but the estate seems to work. I am not a fan of the iPad stuck on the dashboard either but I believe that is being updated next year.

What we are crying out for is an M340i to compete with this and the S4. I love the 340i but it is too similar to all other M sports. If BMW launched an M340i with a different body kit and M tweaked chassis it would be superb.

Agree with everything you say. Even in its current guise with the iPad I would still be really tempted to go for the amg. Though I suspect it won't come with the potential 20% discounts that we seem to be able to get on BMWs.

True but I bet the residuals will be better! I'll be tempted also so looking forward to the UK launch.

I've been bleating about this for years... I just don't understand why they haven't done it yet, given how many 3 series variants we have already :

Discounts will get better.

At present I am getting between £10k discount on a C. Class Estate and about £14k on a C63.

Will definitely look at the estate version when it comes out, actually worth hiring (when released) when over in Germany.

Could tick a lot of boxes.

10k or 10%? If its £10k then discounts are looking fairly equal between a BMW and a Mercedes.

Ok. I've got your point loud and clear.

So it sounds like 20%+ discounts are already available. That's a lot better than coast2coast etc are quoting I think. Is it main dealer?
