Seat occupancy sensor

Has anyone used a bypass? I am sick of seeing this error popping up

Thats not from my car, but exact same message.

Was your car covered by the recall?

(My car is an '08 but the mat still failed. It was fixed under the extended warranty.)

I installed a bypass for my 2004 E46 325i (can't remember the brand/seller sorry). The bypass worked like a charm. Fortunately, the car hasn't been in any accidents, but if it gets in an accident bad enough for airbags to go off, with the bypass, the passenger side airbag(s) will go off whether or not someone is sitting there.

Anyone know what the deal with insurance implications would be since they technically should not go off? In my old E46 an accident with airbags would definitely total it so I never worried about it, but your car might live to see another day, and the insurance could potentially refuse to cover the damage from those airbags.

I coded my OC3 sensor out with NCSExpert. BMW dealer said the recall didn't affect my VIN even though it's an '06 with sport seats. Didn't feel like arguing with them so I just coded it out.
