can I run E60 with just tune?

Hey folks, just curious is I have to upgrade lpfp and add backend flash to run e60 or is it possible with just jb4 tune? I have bms dci and tune. I currently run 4 gals e85 to every tank of 91 with no issues but I'm still learning when it comes to modding the n54. Thanks!

You can run e60 blend or maybe even e85.

But... The back end flash for e60 would be pretty aggressive for boost for a stock intercooler and downpipes.

So are you going to load race, or e85 bms flash and try and run it?
You probably need map 6 and terry to set it for you.

I don't get on it too often, if I lose my license I lose my job. New to my area and haven't gotten to the track either.

I was just looking at e60 for saving $ at the pump if I don't lose too much fuel economy wise. With that said, the car really likes an e85 blend and I'm just hoping to keep it that way without too many mods.

I'd rather build another car to beat the shit out of. I wouldn't mind a turbo back exhaust, but (correct me if I'm wrong) don't see the need for an intercooler when I won't be hot lapping or really putting my foot in it too often.

Maybe I'll be better off logging a few runs after I walnut blast? Would that be a better plan of attack to know my starting point before I change what already works well?

Normal 91 will get you more miles.
Intercooler us generally needed when over 14psi

Right now with roughly an e25 blend with 91 there is a half a mile per gallon difference vs 91. The car just pulls better on the blend. I may log later even though the intake ports are gunked up pretty bad just for a baseline and also to compare after walnut blasting. Next fill up I'll try an e35 blend and log that as well.
Don't get me wrong I want FBO, but just a little worried about breaking my dd.

+1 on checking out the basics thread, to which I would add/emphasize: you have to log log log and see how your LPFP takes to different blends.

I don't really see the benefit of E60 for DD and not full bolt on, not pushing it as you say. I DD my XI and i am FBO less stock front kitties which i want to keep for my DD and i run E20-25 max and that cleans up my timing which i run at 10.5 up top. Car runs great with ok mileage on this blend.

Yeah I noticed that thread just after starting this one. I was basically looking at a less expensive, cleaner burning, easier on the motor alternative.

No.

Backend flash, and upgraded LPFP Needed unless you have a magical pump.

The answer is yes, kinda.

You can run 100% E85 on 100% stock everything if you have the flash (backend) configured right.

But you'll probably be stuck having to run low boost to keep fuel pressure happy, thus make less power than say E30 or E50.

But can you do it? Absolutely. As long as the flash has a close enough fuel scalar and you aren't running much boost.

I recommend upgrading the LPFP first.
If you want to give it a try, make sure to log and post your logs so we can take a look at it.

Mike,

What log parameters would you get for checking out the impact of ethanol. I ask because I don't understand what's important and I just added one gallon of E85 to eliminate timing corrections. It worked beautifully and the car is running better than ever.

That said, i don't know how to test whether I might unwittingly be creating a problem...

Check the e85 basics thread. It will tell you everything you need to know.

Thanks Mike; I don't recall seeing that link before. And, while I had intended to stay away from mixing E, it did so well to clear a few timing pulls at WOT, i figure i need to lear this stuff!
