Latest BMW Media Update

Has anyone installed the latest BMW Media update?
I updated as I thought it was a good idea and now the sms messages from my iPhone are no longer appearing

When you say Latest BMW media updates.

What version are you referring to?

Basically version and date of release.

Saying its NEW, allude that there is a new version available.

This will also depend on build date (VIN).

Guess as you say it depends on the VIN, but is anyone else running this version and not having the messages displayed?

I updated my media software once, which caused BT streaming to crackle, so i reverted to the old version and never bothered again!

Sorted now. I didn't realise it wasn't workimg all day and was wondering why I wasn't get any response from the emails I was sending

Very marmite at moment.

Will give it 6 months.

I updated to these versions - was hoping for GPS tracking whereas I don't think the update made any difference.

so, Windows 10 a no? Need a new laptop for my mum, quick enough not to stress her out but nothing spectacular. I'm assuming it's all Windows 10 now? (I'm 100% Mac!)

More suited for a Windows mobile, however does anyone (other than 320i drivers) have a windows mobile?

Another thing that annoys me is the "explorer" functionality is soooooooo slow. Double click on the computer icon and it takes ages for the file explorer window to render, (seems to struggle polling the nas shares which win 7 never did) and save as from a web page etc, it's just really sluggish. And with an i7 3770 running 4.5ghz and 16gb ram, ssd hdd and xfire 7950 the base os should not run slow in the slightest!

And not to mention it has already crashed more times than Win 7 has in the last 2 years!!

I'm in 2 minds just to stick the image of win 7 I took before the upgrade back on.

How do you update?

Also, how do you get SMS messages on screen? I just thought you could make calls...didn't realise you could also get your messages on screen too??

Newer cars (2014?) you can update over the air from the idrive.

Older cars download onto a USB then plug in.

For SMS, make sure you have enhanced Bluetooth coded (if not ordered) and messages are in the office function. If using an iPhone you need to enable notifications from the phone's Bluetooth option menu once connected.

It's odd.... I've read about the OTA update, but mine doesn't show it (Dec 14 build). Only option is to update over USB. Oh, and I have Pro-Nav.

My car is June 2013 and has the NBT Pro nav. I recently coded Siri and EBT.

Mine's a Mar 2012 build but have previously done OTA updates rather than USB. Option was in an obscure menu off the iDrive IIRC. I've got pro nav, EBT (not coded) , and Apps if that makes any difference.

Personally only update software if you have a problem or the new software brings mega candy goodies

Ah, that's interesting - I have occasionally had a very irritating crackle (every 10-30 seconds until the car is reboots or Bluetooth is disconnects and reconnected) but I assumed it was some iPhone incompatibility. I did an upgrade few weeks ago thinking BMW might have found the issue but no change.

Have you tried reporting the issue to the dealer etc? Does BMW accept there is a problem?

OK, now running this same version now - I coded Siri and EBT and all are still working after the update.

I suppose the update gives better compatibility. I dont think album artwork is shown via bluetooth though...
