Runflats? 18" 400M w/mixed summer tires

Hey Guys,

I just ran VIN check on my newly built 340xi. I ordered 2PE 18" star-spoke 400M wheels w/ mixed summer tires. Does anyone know if these tires are MPSS or just Runflat summer tires? I noticed that another item on the VIN says this:

2PE 18"M LT/ALY WHEELS STAR SP. 400M/MT
840 HIGH SPEED SYNCHRONISATION
Series options
No. Description
258 RUNFLAT TYRES

I am hoping they are MPSS and not run-flats....

Will be run-flats.

You can't order a F30 with Michelin PSS from factory.

so even if I ordered the "19" Light Alloy Wheel Star-spoke Style 407 with Mixed Performance Tires" they would be run-flats and not MPSS?

I see. I am a bit disappointed by that. I just assumed the mixed summer tires would be MPSS, since I has a M235i prior.

M3/M4 has PSS, but no other 3 or 4 Series.

Can't help you with an answer.

But if so, keep the run-flats and just swap back before lease return.

If you order the track package in the U.S. the 398 wheels come with non run flats. To get run flats you need to order the 19" wheels.

I guess for F30 LCI, the THP option "18" Light Alloy V-spoke Style 398 Orbit Grey w/Mixed Perf. Non-Run Flat Tires" is the only one with MPSS. I didn't get the THP because I didn't want VSS and I didn't like the look of the 398 wheels... I guess since I save on the THP cost, I can always get a set of MPSS myself

how is the difference between these run-flat summer tires and the MPSS? I would like to know if its worth the cost to replace the run-flat summers with MPSS

Definitely worth it!

I changed the run-flats with PSS before I even used the car.

You dont have to regret the change since PSS improve both handling and comfort!

Yes I definitely will. I guess I am disappointed bmw doesn't give MPSS for 3/4 series, but only for M cars

yes, you must return the car with the same type of tires that it came with, when you picked it up from the dealer.

Get the car, put PSS on it, drive it until your lease is up, put your original runflats back on, return the car.

You'll most likely have to replace your tires before your lease is up to pass inspection so why not replace it in the beginning with PSS and then turn the car in with the original runflats?
