BMS Stage 1 +4psi?

I have BMS Stage 1 which I know is set to 3.5 psi over stock...I just got the USB/data cable and curious if anyone is/has run more than standard 3.5psi?

Im running BMS intake and 92oct, for now. Would bumping to 4.5 or even 5psi or so be bad? If so, what harm can it cause?

I don't plan on getting DP anytime soon.

Love to hear from those who have run more than 3.5psi! Thanks

I would upgrade your charge pipes first. The stock ones can fail even on stock boost. I babied my car when I installed Stage 1 and was still running the stock pipes. Upgraded to the ER pipes and I'm glad to have the peace of mind.

WOW. I literally just blew my charge pipe minutes after I made my last post running at 4.5 psi.

So were you stranded on the side of the road? I assume you had to have it towed to your local shop?

I was. Stuck in left lane traffic for over an hour before tow truck arrived.

This has some irony to it.... Amazing. I've been running higher boost with JB4 and no issues with chargepipe so far but yeah looks like BMW took shortcuts on this one for sure. Some have randomly blown for no reason.

+1

The stock Cps are not very robust. Its a good idea to have it on your upgrade path.

Its hit an miss. Some blow stock Charge Pipes and some guys are full bolt on and their charge pipe holds up.

Curious, what would be estimated increase in HP and TQ if you added 0.5 psi (4.0 psi total increase over stock) and 1.0 psi (4.5 psi total over stock) to the BMS stage 1 tune?

Thanks

I have been running at +5.0 for a little over a month now. My other mod is an AFE intake and thats it. No issues so far. Charge pipe is on my list of things to get but it looks like a PIA to install. I better do it though before i end up stranded as well.

Nice, which aFe intake do you have? I have BMS Stage 1 + aFe Magnum Force. I looked at the stock charge pipe and went straight to TAG Motorsports for the install, lol. Glad I did. Took them about 1.5 hours on the lift.

I think its roughly 8-12 hp/tq per PSI
