Battery Tender Quick Connect

I am looking to install battery tender quick connects on the F10 M5 and have few questions.

To frame this, I am trying to install the quick connects on the jump points located under the hood. Here are my questions:

My main question is about installing the quick connect on the positive terminal. Namely, on the positive terminal jump point. Looks like it is a torx bolt. If I unscrew that and the positive lead underneath loses contact with the terminal, will the car lose power? Is it a bad idea to unscrew that torx bolt to install the positive lead from the quick connect without unplugging the battery completely?

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
