Tyre width?

Saw a black 2 series on the weekend on the Pacific Highway just out of Raymond Terrace (NSW) south bound. Only had a short glimpse as he shot by, I was heading north. What caught my eye was the width of the rear tyres. I wasn't aware that there was enough space within the guards etc to fit tyres that looked huge compared with the standard. Has anybody else seen this 2 series or does anybody on the forum own it? I curious as to what size the rims and tyres are and if there was any body work to the guards to fit the tyres. Has anybody fitted wider than standard tyres/rims?

Maybe he had spacers ?

I saw somewhere ( I think YouTube ) a guy put spacers on the wheels to push them out slightly although from memory it may have been an M3

Maybe it was spacers. It definitely had a different stance I'm Interested in spacers - have you fitted them to your M235i? Are your tyres the standard size?

Where did you source your spacers? I assume you had to fit longer bolts (?)
Any dramas with the guards scrubbing on the tyres?

Hi mate, got them from burger motor sports in the US,they come with the spacers and longer bolts, good price and seem like a quality product.
No scrubbing, and my car is lowered.

Many thanks - I think I'll invest in a set.

what width spacer are you thinking of getting or have?

from the Burger site its not 100% clear exactly what a m235 will get away with. in the pics there's one with 10mm front & 18mm rear

so 12 front and 18 rear looks doable?

I have 15R12F spacers with stock wheels and tyres. They are fine and look good. Do keep in mind that spacers are illegal in NSW

I've just measured the gap btw the lip on my guards and the tyre/ rim. The front was less than 10mm and the rear was less than 12mm. My wheels and tyres are standard as fitted when I got my car new from BMW. Any thoughts?

As previously mentioned, I have 12F 15R and they are fine. A lot of the US guys have also lowered their cars on H&R or Dinan springs with no complaints. If you want to be sure, come down to Advan on 29th and have a look yourself

Thanks mate like to, can't make the 29th, working unfortunately - I would like to have a look at how the spacers work out. Maybe I'm measuring wrong(?). Just don't see how the lip on the guard won't hit the tyre if the car is loaded or if driving over humps or bumps etc. Maybe I can fit some washers or similar and put the car back on the ground and see just how close it is.
