Courtesy Vehicles
I dropped my car off to get some warranty work done and I was wondering what courtesy vehicles you all have gotten? I was given a baseline 3 series (don't get me wrong, it's free) but a buddy of mine was given a 5 series while getting an oil change done. So I was curious to see what different types of cars the dealerships will loan people.

I have had the car at the dealer twice so far and both times had a base 3 series too…I really appreciate the loaner and just glad it is still a BMW...

My dealership (BMW owned) rarely gives out BMWs as loaners if you can believe it. They are good enough to sell, but when it comes to loaning they prefer to use a rental down the street and hand the keys of a GM over.
They have a few BMW loaners but you pretty much have to be willing to wait a month or more to book your service and reserve one. |

For me it depends on how well you get to know service department, CA's how many cars you've got out of dealership, and what kind of loaners they have, I've got 6 series convertible, x5's deisel and regular, little or no miles on them, once I got from BMW of Murrieta, the GM's X5 with 500 miles on it, told the service Dept I was going on a 800 mile weekend trip, they said, have fun.

Both times I have been given a 5 Series (535i and 528i).
Was also offered 328i GT but took the 528i. Not to bad so far, I can do with the the 535i but 528 was too plain and boring. |

Last service I requested an I3 just to see what a hybrid was like. That car is quick surprised a new GTI beat him off the light by about 5 car lengths. Was a fun drive but would not want one. Other times they give me what I want if it is in the fleet, but we have bought 5 cars from United BMW so that may be why.

we mostly keep a mixture of x1,528,428, and 328's in our loaner group.

When i took my M4 in for the first service at Pacific BMW, i was given a courtesy baseline 320 which felt so underpowered it was sad...
Had a recall for my E46 M3 last year and took it in to New Century BMW in Alhambra and i rolled out in a 535i loaner... Now that was 10x better than the 320

With my previous 640i GC the best car I was provided was a 335is vert. Great car but reinforced my thought for never buying a convertible. But it was nice for a few days.

I received a 2015 535i with sport package... Great Car and I enjoyed the 4 days I had it...
Next round a 2015 328i gt...... Terrible would be the best way to describe this turd of a vehicle. They have a couple others x3, a 328i etc.. I would love for them to get in a I3 .. would love to get behind it for a day next time I gotta go in for service.. So far no prob getting a loaner .. I just call ahead.

Since this is my second M car, the dealership have given me M loaners. I've had their black M3 demo car and a grey M4.
A few years ago Audi offered me a 1.4 A3 whilst they serviced my RS4. I declined and walked the half mile or so back to the office. Bob |

No joke, the effers at BMW Mtn View gave me a bright orange Kia Soul. This was after I scheduled my service appt two weeks out to make sure they would have a loaner available.
BMW Mtn View is horrible. Not recommended. |

When my M4 was ready for delivery my CA picked me up from home in a new i3 and let me drive it back to the dealership to test it out which was pretty fun. For my 1200 mile break-in service I was given a 320i which was horrible lol. During my last visit I was given a 328d XDrive that was ok.

I've had all kinds of loaners...
X1 (meh), X3 (ok), 328i M-Sport (lol), 320i (actually surprised by the value/performance), and 528i Now, this is coming from my current car (2009 750i), so even more of a perceived "downgrade", but as pointed out earlier in the thread, at least they're BMWs and not something else.
