Super Street tires for autox/track

Anyone aware of any new tires coming out before I commit to buying the RE71R's? Like new Yokohama's (AD-09's maybe) or more sizes in the Rival S, a newer Hankook or Dunlop?

My stock PSS are just about toast on the outer edges after 32 runs. They might have 12 more left before cording.

I know camber would help but I'm not changing that for rules sake.

Thanks

PSS's are great.....not sure you'll find something "better". As you said, camber will GREATLY help, but I understand rules 😔

Better is subjective, but there are plenty of tires that out perform the PSS. They're great all around performance tires but if ultimate performance, they fall pretty far short.

The Hankooks and Dunlops are both new this season and probably won't change for a few seasons. If there is a new Yoko it probably won't come out for a bit. If you're autoxing unfortunately the RE71R is the tire to have. Nothing else seems to come close to it.

Agreed, PSS are good but not at the level of some of the other super street tires.

Despite your experience, I went and bought the RE-71R's. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.
I'll have my first experience with them this weekend for 12 runs of practice.

Everyone who has them though, says they are like crack and you can't do without them. I just hope I don't shred them after 1 or 2 events. GRRR!

Weren't you getting a front bar put on? How did that go/workout for you? Price for install too and which bar if purchased.

thanks

Yeah I got the H&R front bar. I installed it myself. It really transforms the car, though it still is lacking in grip up front. The lack of camber seriously holds this car back a LOT for autox purposes. I'm switching back to the RE71Rs for the Wilmington Tour next weekend. I suspect a weekend of two drivers and concrete will pretty much destroy those fronts though.

Probably decent for track but not legal for SCCA street classes for auto-x.

Got 14 runs on them yesterday. Definitely wore down fast on the edges and center but amazing grip when at the right temperature. First tire I"ve had to spray down to keep temps down between runs.
Others said my/our experience is similar and they wear better once worn down a bit. I heard people saying between 75-150 runs, depending on car weight and camber, is what to expect out of them. I hope to get 75 but we'll see.
Great tire though.

Great tire though.
Yeah yesterday was the first I really pushed them and was shocked how much more grip they had over my RS3v2s. Curious to see how they handle being pushed on concrete this coming weekend.

I don't know about yours but mine made a ton of noise on the street before my first event. Now they are a bit quieter. The tire shop also had a he!! of a time getting one of the rear 255's on. Took an hour. Other side went on in 2 minutes.

I haven't really noticed mine get much quieter, but yes they're extremely loud on the highway. My friend who does my wheel/tire swaps complained about the same thing. He'll be swapping them for me tonight, so I suspect I'll hear some choice words.

I suppose we must have run into each other. I was driving the red M3 this past weekend.

Probably going to pull the trigger on the Nankang RS2R's 180 treadwear ver. Heard nothing but good reviews about them. Lots of guys racing on the 120 treadwear ver. in Japan. Sadly they are under the 200 treadwear rule for autox street/stock classing. Pretty sure they will last longer than the so called "200 treadwear" re71r's.
