Correct 1st service time?

Hey everybody,
So my 2014 has the service car in red dated 6/2015 telling me service is due. The car's build date is 6/26/14. Now I took delivery on 8/20/14 and it currently has 8200 mi. My question is......do I take it in for service? Do I wait for the true 1 yr use age or 10,000 mi? I assume the service date on the car was set to month 6 and that is why it is red but in real life neither 1st service goal has been reached.

Thanks for the feedback

I'd do as the cars service computer request. So 8xxx miles as opposed to
10xxx miles.

You take it when the computer says you take it....

The oil will break down whether you picked up the car of the dealer or not that's why they time counter is set from production....
If you buy a car that was sitting on the lot for 11 month, after a month you will have to take it for an oil change...

it's not 10,000 miles either.... if you don't ever pass 5krpm computer might say 14000....
if you go to the track every weekend computer might say 6000

Just do what the computer says... that's why the put it in there

Ehagerty, how you doing, we ordered almost the same time from BMW of Columbia. Like stated above its based on build date not sales date. I got my oil changed in April even though it was delivered in May since it was built in April. I had 4,500 miles on mine when I got the oil changed at 12 months.

Hey whats up!
I am doing good...and loving the shit out of my car. Best purchase I have ever made. Looks like i better take it in. Have not made it back down to see the guys at Columbia but have been back to the PC to do a driving class
Did a couple of mods but it is good to go as it is. Am waiting to see the M2 when released to convince myself that is it not bad ass'd enough over what I got for the up charge.

I'm also trying to figure out when to take my 228 in for service. I bought it with 2700 miles on it in June of this year. It's a May '14 build. No idea if the oil has been changed prior to me purchasing it. It's not even in the service system here yet so it doesn't exist according to BMWNA.

I'm also in Columbia, SC and saw a nice EB M235 with black wheels the other day. It's the only other 2er I have seen in two weeks of driving besides the black one at the dealer.

you can see when you need to take it on iDrive in the service section
it will show oil, brakes, etc

if it was built in May 14', it should have had an oil change in May 15'

I found that but if it was built then and an oil change May '15 then I'm wondering if it's correct in saying I have 8K till it needs an oil change. When I bought it Jun of '15 it had 2700 miles on it. I'm wondering if it was changed. I have no way to find out because it's not in the system here.

I just wanna make sure that it hasn't been over a year or still has the build oil in it and someone just reset the counter.

the computer should show a date and a mileage and you do it whichever comes first ... now if somebody reset the counter without changing the oil you will never know...

not sure how could it be no record of it if it was done at a dealer

The bad part is that I got it from a "kind of" actual dealer. So they don't actually have a service department. They take their cars to the dealer but there's no free maintenance in Germany. I'm pretty sure they never changed the oil at the 1 year mark because it was still on the lot and less than 3K miles on it.

I guess I will just change it myself just to be sure. I think that's my best bet.
