Holograming?

Hey All,

Can someone tell me what this weird effect is in my paint? It's not swirl marks and I haven't seen it on other black cars I've owned and detailed before. I've read about holograming from electric polishers, but I don't own one. I noticed it the first time I washed the car and got ready for a claybar and wax. Excuse the dirty car.

That is hologramming, exactly as you described. Either it happened during dealer prep or it happened during final preparation at the factory. It can be machine polished out.

Had some on my black 135i. Got rid of it with a Flex DA, green polishing foam pad and 3M Ultrafina polish.

Thanks guys! I'll give it a try when the weather gets better, a friend of mine has an electric polisher. I'll report back the results.
