Got an itch - soliciting opinions.

So I held off on the 235 waiting for this M2, but really am amped about having something different. So:

1) Found an S2000 with very low miles at a nice price. But I need to pick it up tomorrow evening or lose the deal. If I get this, then I postpone a new car for 2 - 3 years.

2) Just get a 235 this year. Would this provide similar grin factor as the the 2000?

3) suck it up and just stick two the plan and wait for the M2 next year?

S2ks are the bomb, but I would wait.

It isn't as refined or modern. You would have to invest lots to get similar speed and power out of it if you wanted. At the end of the day it doesn't have a roof and is a lot less practical.

Don't let the urgency push you to rush into a purchase.

You won't be able to carry as much stuff in truck, fit as big of wheels, the engine won't say M POWER

That price doesn't seem that sweet for the mileage.

There is a red 2008 here in Canada for $23CAD with EDIT: an irrelevant amount of American miles.

#fail

Haste makes waste.

Fly up first class, take advantage of our dollar and stay, at the most expensive hotel and ship it back and you would be still on top.

Haste makes waste.
Huh, Thanks Miguel. I thought this was more of a fair price range, but I think I might have overestimated the value.

Friend has an AP1 in mint condition. Great car, great steering feel but rattles all over the place. It's a fun little car but I'd choose my 2 any day of the week

The price isn't a steal, but it's not bad.

That car has 67,763 miles.

Regardless of if you pick the S2000, M2 or 235, what are you looking for? Is this a fun weekend car? Daily driver? Will it see winter use?

Pretty different cars to say the least. Low powered high rpm, lightweight, vert, raw/low tech vs high tech, powerful turbo, higher weight.

For track time and canyon carving weekend car, s2000 is fantastic.

Can be made fast but requires forced induction and $$$.

But if you get your grins from feel and handling, you can't get past the fact that the s2000 weighs 700 lbs or so less than the m2 lilely will.

It's also less expensive by quite a bit.

I would never dd an s2000 though.

I'd get a new Miata over the S2.
And at this point maybe waiting for the M2 if you really want performance.
But for the price the 235.

S2000 if you won't DD it, otherwise just wait for the M2.

If the itch is that bad I would go and get that checked out... doesn't sound too good

On a different note, I would just wait for the 2 series.

Thing is how long would you have to wait to get an M2 at a reasonable price?

if the M235 where hard to get in some markets, imagine what it will be with the M2

I like the Miata, but figured I could skip the depreciation when I sell the Honda.

Okay, i took out the loan, but. I am going to cancel. Just hope We don't have to wait too long for the car!!! Maybe at least some news?!

Thanks for the input everyone. Now off to the store for some cream.

Making a hasty decision with pressure on time limits usually turn out to be the wrong one. I'd wait because there are tons of good deals out there that you can make without the pressure of making the decision right now.

Buy the s2000, drive it until the m2 is about to arrive, sell the s2000 and keep the m2!

You cant lose that much with the s2000 given the condition is good

It's more the principle with me. I would have to amortize the transaction cost over a few years.

However, this worked out in my favor. The wife gave me permissions for the 2000, and then said, I thought you wanted an M2 ED or a Porsche? Just do that.

So if the M2 doesn't deliver, going for the 997.2s.
