CD / DVD player

I'm aware that it will play DVD's when stationary, but will it play SACD's (when moving)?

Thanks...

Sorry to add to this thread. Anyone carried out a VIM mod on the F30 so DVDs play when in motion? Can this be done easily on the F30?

Nope, whilst technically the same type of disc, SACDs require the DSD codec which is a Sony licensed product, it would be stamped on the back of the headunit if it supported it, and it isn't. Sony themselves stopped SACD support on PS3s yonks ago, with the manufacturer stopping support, I can't see any third parties carrying on with it.

Yes, simple coding.

I've done it, but never used it.

Thanks Mark. How easy is it to do and what would be required to do it? I had a quick google and it sounds easy if I understood the terminology!

I'm on the market for a BMW, and this would be my first one so I'm getting my head around the technicalities and differences from Audi/MB.

There is a whole section dedicated to coding in the forum - give it a scan...

Essentially you need a cable (£15 ish) some software (FOC) and a spare laptop... then just lots of guidance from the friendly bunch on here!

I coded it on mine but turned it off again. Even if used for the passenger it's too close to the eyeline not to be distracting - plus I shudder to think what insurance and the police would say if, in the event of an accident, somebody said "the guy in the BMW had a movie on" and then on investigation they found you had deliberately removed a safety element placed there by the manufacturer...

It's a piece of piss to do but I turned mine off again.

They do and will pull cars with films etc showing in front.

West Midlands police pulled a lad over I work with.

His wife was showing him some movie / you tube sort of thing on her IPad, this happened as a police car went past or they went past one.

Anyone putting something on their front screen may as well join the Mobile phone users.

Even worse are those who have it on at night - hello, you can see it from 'miles' back lol.

Cheers, thanks for that. I wasn't expecting it to, but thought I'd ask just to be sure.
