How to edit the xml file on the HDD?
It's taken a while but finally somebody has provided an answer to my problem....
Background, BMW Australia has had to comply with our stupid rules and lock out BMW Apps whilst in motion. This means I cannot use Spotify or pandora once the hand brake is released or the gear is moved out of park. Eh!! Sucks! I've spent hours and hours trying to code this out without luck, and finally, I have found its not possible to code out. The answer: ...."It's currently not possible to code Apps or Internet in motion on the NBT idrive unit. Unlike video in motion, coding apps in motion requires you to edit a XML file located on the hard drive of the headunit." Does anybody know a way of editing this file? There's has to be a way, I don't care for Internet in motion but certainly want to use music apps whilst driving. |

No idea, exactly. But if I had the time this is how I would attempt it.
1. Pull the Hard Drive. 2. Mount to a computer. 3. Mirror original drive to second test Drive. 3b. Make a backup image of the vehicle's drive. 4. Safeguard the original drive. 4b. Only make changes to test drive. 5. Look for the XML file. It should be plain text. 5b. Possibly learn German. 6. Figure out the settings and change them. 7. Install test drive in car. Test. 8. IF it works GOTO 9 ELSE GOTO 5 9. Report back here with findings. If my life weren't such a tumult, I'd be figuring out such stuff myself. Best of luck. |
