jb4 questions
Hey guys I got a 2015 F30 335i and I have a couple questions (noob ones sorry) about jb4. I have a dp (uninstalled) and intake (installed) on my car atm.
I keep seeing everyone post for sale threads for jb4 stage 1 and stage 2. From my previous experience (jdm) going between the stage 1 to stage 2 was a different map based on the BOs you had. So what's the difference between the two, like what is physically different between the two? I also see everyone posting that they have the flex fuel wires and usb connection and I'm confused about how they work. Do you only need the flex fuel wires to fill up (partially) with e85? Sorry for the annoying/noob questions and if someone already asked all these and they were answered please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. |

JB4 connect to the Canbus , JB stage 1 does not.
What this means is a lot more control, flexibility and safety features for the JB4. the Stage 1 is a boost additive, it adds a certain amount of boost across the RPM. The amount of boost can be changed using the USB cable, some people prefer the more aggressive 4 boost increase. JB4 controls boost by RPM, you could choose to have 4 psi boost on midrange and taper it down on redline so you do not put a lot of pressure on your engine. It also reads and delete codes, datalog, controls boost by gear and lots of more features. If you are keeping your car stock, JB stage 1 will be enough. If you want to add more mods in the future i recommend you grab the JB4.

Anyone listing JB4 stage 1 is either not familiar with what they purhcsaed or trying to lure you in with trickery.
Stage 1 is just stage 1. JB4 is stage 2. They are entirely different hardware. Stage 1 is for mostly stock vehicles. Stage 2 JB4 is for stock or mild to wild modifications. We typically just recommend the JB4 unless you are 1000% positive you are staying stock. |

It is confusing at first, don't blame yourself, I got confused on it before also. The JB4 Stage 2 contained a Stage 1 and more software wise. Hardware wise, it is different. Harness may looks the same, depending on your car setup. The latest JB4 Stage 2 came with Flexfuel harness now which is needed for an E85 mix. The USB cable is sold separately. It is needed for you to do a datalog and firmware upgrade.

Yes sorry I wanted to know a little bit of both actually. I wanted to know if I can set a target AFR and if it changed with different maps.
Also, how do the FF wires adjust the AFR for the E85 mixture? Do I set it to a specific map? Sorry again for all these questions, I'm treading new waters with FF. |
