NOM3ERY scammed me..

So I posted a thread stating that I want to buy a set of Avant Garde wheels here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1120967. NOM3ERY pmed me saying that he has a set, we went back and forth texting and he sent me pics before we decided on a price and I decided I wanted them. After negotiating,we decided to use PayPal as a payment plan and and I asked him to send me an invoice (which he did) that I payed. After sending the payment an issue "occurred" with his bank and he told me that the funds would not transfer over to his bank because PayPal has put a 15 day hold on his account, so he sent the money back and asked me to PayPal it as a gift. I waited and asked a few people that have dealt with him if it would be safe to send it over to him as a gift, and they replied and all told me he was very trustworthy, one stating that he is actually very close friends with him while the other told me he sent him the money as a gift and the transaction went very smooth. So I went ahead and sent over the money, only to get a call a few days later from him saying that it still wont transfer back and that he is going to send it back over. He sent the gifted money back to me and told me to send over the money with MoneyGram. At that point I thought he was probably a regular guy since he didn't just keep my gifted money and refunded it back because of the bank "issue", so I sent it, since he was in close contact with me and when I asked around on the forum, they told me to do it since he has a pretty good rep here. After sending the MoneyGram, I texted him the reference number and he went and picked it up, calling me afterward and telling me that they will be shipped out the next morning. The next day I called/texted him 5-10 times before he replied saying "Sorry man I sent it". After that I asked him to give me the tracking number, and to my surprise there was no reply. I have been calling, texting, and private messaging him since then and there has not been one reply. I saved up for these wheels for a while, and the fact that someone had the nerve to steal my hard earned money like that baffled me, so I am turning to the forum for help. I have his name, address, and texts. What can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and please don't say " you shouldn't have sent it like that ", I already made the mistake and there is no going back.

His name is Kevin Laguerre and his number is 914-589-5933.

I'd take the trip to set things straight. Looks like he just played someone else too. You guys should get together and show him what's good.

I was just simply saying he might be expecting you to show up and then you can confront him face to face.

$700 i'd damn well be going down to the police station with his info, receipt of payment, conversation records, etc.

Theft is theft, period.

You're a true POS if you scam your own community, and deserve to have your ass dragged through court for small claims, and hopefully have charges pressed for this too. Can't stand hearing about this stuff, and it's happening a lot recently.

OP, make sure you post warnings on other forums as well if you can track him down on them.

The worst part is that people on here actually know him and say he's trustworthy.

Well, then someone needs to tell him to fix whatever this mess seems to be.

For the record, it's not uncommon for scammers on forums to have multiple accounts to have the appearance of "friends".

Yeah.. True. But I spoke to someone from SoCal that he sold his exhaust system to a couple years back and he said that he was very reasonable on price and that the item came better then expected, among others who were also satisfied. Thats why I thought maybe this guy was legit.

I hate to say this when are people going to learn.

The scammer as smart and just because others on here said he a stand up guy, does not mean they were not part of the scam. Honestly, banking is pretty seamless these days and I do not believe the was any hold on his account. If he was having transfer issue that is not ops issue. I have seen this game before, they make you think that some sort of issue is happening outside their control and convince you to help them out. When anyone say anything about western union or moneygram the deal is done.

I have a collection of fake moneygrams and western union check even certified bank checks and these idiots think I am going to cash them and send them back the ops I made an over payment can you send me the different.

People either deal face to face or through a guaranty transaction system like PayPal, anything else will lead to being scammed.

In this case I suspect this person was on the up and up but got themselves into a money problem issue and figure they will just rip people of, since it looks like he sold all his stuff on his BMW and probably does not own it anymore.

OP right it off as lesson learned, I highly doubt you will locate this guy.
