ACS Springs - ride and fitting questions...
Hi,
Am moving away from my 235i to a 335D pre lci that I got cheap on a lease. Obviously slightly wary of the handling gap between the 235 which was brilliant and the x drive F30 which doesn't get much praise as standard. I am looking to get ACS springs fitted, but worried about the ride quality? My 235 is a tad bouncy and I want this car to be comfortable. Does it compromise ride quality, say less than standard M Sport sDrive? Anyone know of somewhere capable to fit and do alignment after around Hertfordshire way? cheeeeers |

I can honestly say it hasn't compromised ride quality whatsoever on my 330d sdrive non adaptive, so yours should be even more comfortable due to your softer dampers.
Even more comfortable again if you have adaptive suspension? |

Go visit Deutsch Tech http://bmwservicemiltonkeynes.co.uk/ in Milton Keynes & say we sent you. They supply & fit for a very good price.
Ride is fine with the springs & not bouncy at all & it's still very comfy. Wont be anything like your M235i handling wise though, I came from a m135i, so be prepared but it's a massive improvement over standard & it looks loads better to boot |

I'm in Herts and can vouch for Deutsch Tech. Had mine fitted a few weeks ago and it came in at under £500 all in. They also fitted my M Performance gloss black grilles at no extra cost
I've noticed that the ride is a tiny bit firmer over the worst imperfections, but on 99% of roads it feels exactly the same until you turn the steering wheel, or brake, or corner. Basically the springs give you improvements across the board. It also makes the car look a fair bit nicer with a much more sporty stance and with all the focus on the handling improvements this came as something of a surprise to me. |

Am expecting it to not be quite the drivers tool, but at nearly 45% less payment than my 235 each month it helps with saving a house deposit! needs must. I don't have adaptive, ordered a totally stock car. thanks for the heads up and feedback |

PS anyone got a post spring pic with the standard M sport 18's? As I've gone b for basic spec wasn't sure on getting the car lowered on small (ish!) wheels

If you can it's also worth considering adding the birds anti roll bars at the same time as I believe the labour involved in both is not massively dissimilar. Having tried Tengocity's car compared to my own with just the springs fitted I would say the turn in is noticeably sharper and the car stays generally flatter.

Don't say that, I thought it was a different job to drop the sub frames or I would have had done :/ Springs make a big difference, I had my brother in the back on a windy m/way trip pre and post springs, pre he wondered why the car was all over the place in the wind, post much better. He lives in Canada, cars don't have any suspension there, they just float on niceness so are really bad and he thought mine was worse without the springs. Throw it round some tight bends, much flatter ( but clearly could be better with ARBs)

If you're getting a new car have you tried getting he dealer to fit in for the price of the car?? Managed to get mine to do that in effect for free and bought springs direct from Lorcan and got 10% forum discount.
Highly recommend them

The ARBs to fit are a bit more work than springs but makes sense to do together as some of the work overlaps.
I think they make a huge difference in the handling balance and dialling out understeer. Car now handles as well as I need on the road!

Few of us on here have them. Decent fit and finish. Check price of springs if dealer supplying as Lorcan does them for about £230 ish whereas dealer offered a deal at £400 to supply . Hmmmmm I had to factor in free fitting at time of sale as part of the deal so don't know how they will react if you've already agreed the deal. But good luck with it ...
