Just got my car back from GSR...

...and wow! The car has so much more pickup now. Matt and Nick were a pleasure with to do testing so hopefully they'll bring the tune to the market faster. Matt said my car did about 340whp and 370wtq. Not a bad gain over 279whp and 264wtq! Granted the car is only 2 months old, it's my second F30 and it was getting a little boring.

Glad you like the new tune. Do you have any dyno graph showing the gains?

I'm assuming ECU tune?
If so, describe what the DME looks like now (soldered on, or done via OBD2?)

We don't do anything physical to alter the ECU other than open it up and seal it back up like it looked from the factory. Not done via OBDII.

Alex, now that you have had the car for a few days without any rain - how's it been?

340whp/370wtq is more than enough especially with a real tune you feel it everywhere!

Factory specs are 300hp/300tq at the crank - why would you say that our baseline numbers are "wonky"?

The baseline of 253 lb-ft was wonked, but I see now that that # was with mods which kinda makes even less sense..... but I see that your completely stock car had much more reasonable numbers, which is what I should habe been looking at in the first place. My apologies

How much PSI increase over stock does your tune provide?

Also, I'm in Illinois, if I wanted this done would I need to physically send my ECU to you guys to load the tune? and how about if my car goes in for service, ect?

Thanks

Right now it's looking like a 4 psi bump but I need to verify that with Matt.

Yes, you need to send ECU - we turn it around the same day. We make no physical changes (e.g. drilling) to the ECU so when it comes back to you it looks as if it was never opened.

Tune in undetectable by dealers. There is obviously debate on whether they can figure it out via empirical testing liking running the car to see if it exceeds the top speed limit but really the only way they could detect it is if they sent it back to Germany for analysis and had one of their techs analyze the binary changes which is a very specialized person.

Not always surprising to see loss of torque due to certain mods added to a vehicle on a stock tune. Altering flow characteristics can inhibit certain areas in order to achieve gains in others. Things like intercoolers can have a negative effect since they are generally not all that restrictive for factory settings. The gains aren't seen until the limitations of the factory component are reached.

How hard is it to remove the ECU on these cars?

Also, would you happen to know how much a new ECU is for this car? I'm thinking maybe buying a spare and switch them out incase something were to ever go wrong, so I wouldnt have to ship it back to you to remove the tune.

Thanks

It's connected to intake manifold for N55, bit of a bitch.
