Repair advice

So, I woke up to not so good news today... To keep it short, my sister backed into my car.

Does anybody know around how much this repair will cost? It will only be the rear bumper plus installation costs. Probably just over our deductible? $1000? Or more?

Progressive says they will fix it at their repair center in Miami. Any thoughts about this? She said I can take it to a BMW repair center but then Progressive doesn't guarantee the quality of the work. Is that just to keep me from going to the BMW center bc of the cost? What would you recommend? I've used their center before but for a Toyota... So not sure what to do this time.

Also, I got the car in November 2014 and it is mineral white. I've been washing it almost every week since then. Do you think there will be a noticeable difference in color between the new bumper and the rest of the car?

Find a reputable indy bodywork shop (there should be a few in Miami) that can do the paint match. In my experience when I replaced my back bumper, the shop I worked with tested the thickness of the paint against the rest of the car. They also mixed the paint accordingly to match the rest of the car (at the time, my car was 4 years old). The cost of the job was roughly 2.5 grand?

Some indy shops will also eat some/all of your deductible, something BMW and Progressive shops won't do.

I had to replace my front bumper and it was $2,000 at the BMW certified repair shop. I would recommend with a brand new car you go the BMW certified route. I paid a $500 deductible.

Bought my car in August and had the new bumper in January. Can't tell a difference in the paint, but mine is Mineral Gray.

I was rear-ended 3 days after I got my 235 in March. Also have Progressive. I declined their shop and took it to an independent shop I had used before. It was just under $1000 to replace and paint the bumper cover. Excellent paint match- black sapphire metallic, and this shop guarantees their work too.

I had similar damage (VW R) and took it to a local shop they do very good work and warranty their work for as long as I own the car (as any reputable shop will do). Cost me $970, yours could be more if it damaged the PDC sensor.

However, if you move out of the area a national company should warranty their work at one of their other locations.

To me saving a few dollars isn't worth being aggravated every time I wash my car. Hope this helps!

I would never use an insurance recommended shop. A good independent shop is what I would use. If you had frame damage I would use a BMW certified shop.

I was rear-ended and had the bumper replaced, and a parking sensor, at the local BMW dealer's body shop, for $1886. Mineral gray too. It looks perfect.

One pic after washing it last Sunday and 2 from when I got it.

Thanks for the advice everybody. Just left it at a BMW certified shop and it will probably take around a week or so. Can't wait to have it back!

I had a lady do the same thing to my 435i (I know different car)
To make it short
1300 USD (all figures are rounded)
700 for the new bumper,
200 paint
400 labor (they drill the holes for the parking sensors, they do have to remove from old bumper and placed on the new bumper)

If you want to have someone put some bondo, sand, prime and paint, you will be around 750. (may vary based on area)
