About $2500 in unexpected parts and work.
New rear bumper having it painted and old bumper repaired painted to keep as a spare.
New front Michelin Pilot Sport plus mount and balance due to bubble in sidewall from broken road surface.

As a soon-to-be owner, this one worries me a bit. Are the fenders so flimsy that they dent by someone merely leaning against them?!

My friend was very large and leaned against the car in a particularly weak spot - above the rear, driver-side wheel well - and when I yelled "What the hell are you doing? Get off my car!" he pushed off with his ass - thereby putting even more pressure on that weak spot.

Because the "friend" is much bigger than the OP, I suspect.

I have noticed that when I wash the hood, the metal pushes in very easily...

No unexpected costs after one year of ownership. Just fuel, DMV and insurance and a few cleaning supplies.

Well...in value only. The damage was entirely cosmetic...no frame or mechanical damage. The repairs were pristine. Only an expert would be able to tell it was wrecked. I got a 7 grand diminshed value check from their insurance company, which was a Godsend since I got laid off in November and still looking for work.

Car door ding and a dent on the bonnet in the first week of ownership. Total $200.

Unrelated to my car, but in that same week also dropped my iPhone 6 Plus in the pool... Expensive week!

Terrible Luck. My only suggestion is to wash the car yourself, never trust any of those car wash places. All they try and do is push cars out...better off doing it yourself.

My car is young (collected on April 14), so everything's still before me (knock, knock) - but already managed to curb the right front wheel on one of those poor roads here (it was a tramway rails in the course of rebuilding, and not secured or marked sufficiently so I didn't notice one rail was sticking high from the ground).

To my astonishment, the wheel didn't even bend (in spite of the huge impact noise), so the only cost associated have been:

- cosmetic repair of the rim
- front alignment check (all OK)

But for the peace of mind with the brand new car, I did it at my BMW dealer, so wan't cheap

Nothing major yet but I only have 2k miles on her. I will say that I've spent some money on the aftermarket parts, which seem to keep adding up!!!

I caught a nail and had to replace a P7 at $200 and caught an Acorn dent in the roof that cost $100 to have popped out.
