Same mufflers.
Will only need to have a muffler shop cut out the resonator and put in an X-pipe in the center section that you don't remove.

The N54 exhaust add a new middle section with the X-pipe.

The mufflers are the expensive part and they are the same.
Verified by looking at realoem.com.

Not likely, it't the same configuration that the coupes get from the factory.

I placed an order for the N55 version from getbmwparts but it looks like it's backordered and may not be available any longer, so I'm still interested in purchasing the N54 system second hand if anyone has one they want to sell.

N54 and N55 use same mufflers, N54 comes with midpipes that delete the res, any exhaust shop will do the same for 50 bucks.

Sorry to hear they are already gone! At that price I'm not surprised, good luck with the search. Personally I wouldn't let mine go for anywhere near 600$, but I'm sure someone will be going back to stock to sell the car sooner or later!
