... BMW ConnectedDrive issued an iOS update yesterday that supposedly allows it to function while the app is in the background, or the iOS device's screen is turned off/put in sleep mode. Formerly, the app had to be running in the foreground, and the screen always on, for it to work.

I haven't tested it yet ... but it's about frakking TIME.

Lol this is a silly app that I used once, I stopped using it for my phone because connecteddrive would come on and kill the battery

Banned while the car is in motion by the driver? Sure. There's a reason most integrated Nav units don't allow address input while the car is in motion.

Banned for passengers? That far less convincing of an argument.

Besides: what's your definition of a driving distraction? Define it, then we can talk.

There's a seperate thread about that in this subforum; Spotify update caused it. Happening in MINIs, too. No fix; Spotify is aware of it.

Thanks for the notification. These were all glaring issues that needed to be addressed. So glad they (apparently) have been. Now it would be good if iDrive Connected Drive could play nice with Apple.
