OPINIONS PLEASE. 18 vs 19's

With the recent delay of the 19in wheels, I have started thinking about getting the 18's. I plan on eventually putting aftermarket 19's but haven't found a set that I really like yet. I'm not to fond of the smoked 18's and I' m really wondering if the "satin Chrome" are going to look any better. In fact, I really don't like the 18's at all. So, do I get 18's and hold back my vomit everyday I look at my car until I get 19's or should I just wait the extra 4-6weeks (guessing here) for the OEM 19's.

I'm really interested in the opinions of those of you who have multiple sets of wheels! I have never tracked a car and would like to one day, but not sure if I should put this into the equation.

I think the 19s are worth the wait. Though it is not fair of BMW to make us wait more.

I got the 18s. I thought the price for 19s was absurd at $475 per wheel over the cost of the 18s. I will purchase other wheels later for the track and perhaps another set for the road once everyone starts putting aftermarket wheels on their car and unloading the stock 19" wheels on Ebay. 18s will give me a better ride and will save some dough when I need to replace them, which will probably be often.

Also, out of the the options on the option list for the car, the wheels are probably the easiest upgrade that I can accomplish myself. I certainly won't be able to add Idrive or heated seats at a later date very easily, but mounting up another set of wheels is something my 14 year old daughter can do (and has done) all by herself.

One more thing is the 18s about 6 lbs lighter per wheel.

My $.02

Do you know the actual weight of the wheels -- 18 inch and 19 inch?

What is your source? I have been looking for this spec but this is the first post I have seen.

Thank you.

I looked at aftermarket 19" alternatives. If you want light weight wheels in the region of 21lbs per wheel, you are looking at $1000 each or so. The BBS gold series wheels seem like a good choice in that regard. I think the stock 19"ers are about 28lbs each.
