Tint/Hood & fender protection
I recently put a deposit on my first BMW! It is a 6MT M4, mineral white metallic paint. It has been given a production number and will be built the week beginning Sunday May 31st.
I was wondering what people have done as for as 3M type protection products for their M's hood, fenders, mirrors etc... Any advise on brands of the products as well as where to apply the wrap would be helpful. Being a white car I have read that I will notice the clear plastic more than if my car was any other colour. Are there better brands than others? Has anyone done their full hood? The bumper too? The quote my dealership has given me seems a bit rich and will be looking at reputable shops in my area. I am located in southern Ontario so if any of the Toronto/Hamilton/Grimsby/Niagara members have any recommendations on shops I'd love to hear from them. I'm told delivery will be in July. The dealer says early July but from what I've been reading, later July may be more realistic. Either way it is going to seem like a long, long wait. Thank you for any advice you may be able to provide. |

congrats on your car! Check out http://advancedautomotivefilm.com/ the installer's name is Marco and he's located in Mississauga. He shares a space with a detailer named Kevin @ GTA in Detail. I personally didn't get my car protected with wrapping, just a paint sealant, but I know their products are top of the line

Mine is XPEL'd
but best would probably be a combination of the film + paint sealant, like opticoat or some equivalent. pricey tho.

I have the whole hood, front fenders, rockers, mirrors, behind rear wheels covered using xpel. Have it on my truck also. I have several other cars with other suppliers over the last 5 years or so, and the xpel is by far the closest look to the actual paint. The work was done by very very good installers. Paid 1800. Not cheap, the material and quality installers cost.

My dealership is only charging me about $1800 for Xpel (full hood, full CF roof, side skirts, full fenders, bumper + headlights & the area under the trunk) and 35% tints all around.
I also got the interior and exterior sealant protection which they charged $699 for. |
