OK, already sick of it..
washing my rims!
I need someone to recommend a total wheel care program, DIY, for laziest man on the planet. Does such a system exist? Maybe something like a spray foam that cleans with just water pressure and leaves wheels looking like new with no damage to the finish. I've been doing my rims by hand with soap, brush and elbow grease years with great success but lately I've been hating the task more and more as it sometimes takes as long as it does to wash the car. Plus with all the recent road patching debris splatter all over the place, year after year, it seems like a losing battle sometimes. Little help? Thx.

I hear ya. A coating on the rims will certainly help. Carbon Ceramic Brakes would have solved the problem too. Maybe try some low-dust brake pads? I was gonna look into that myself at some point. BMW had started using low-dust pads a few years back, but guess they didn't fit for our cars

Agreed. I'm fortunate enough to had clicked the silver 19s box rather than the black ones as I figured that would be the case.

I used to use BMW wheel cleaner and it did exactly what you described. Spray on , wait 3 minutes, hose off and everything washed away. About 4 years ago I think they changed the formula and it never worked the same, in fact it was garbage. I wish BMW would bring back the old formula but it probably killed dandelions or something so they had to fix it.
I haven't found anything equivalent since and I have tried a lot.

Had mine coated with CQ Finest. Dirt and dust come off with a hose. Except the little 1 inch area behind the spokes that you can't see. But I can see it, so I STILL feel compelled to scrub it with a soft little brush. DAMN YOU TO HELL, OCD!

^Seems good products and good brush, to which I use both, will always need a can of "Elbow Grease" to get satisfactory results. That or just find a neighborhood boy that wants to make a few bucks.
Thanks everyone!

Look on amazon for wheel brushes. Many to choose from they really make it easy.

The dust factor is a trade off you can't avoid. Better performance always = more dust. Less dust always = less performance. If it's really a nightmare for you and you don't track the car I'd recommend something like the Hawk HP pads. Not the HPS (those are dusty too). If you go to the track you can swap in the factory or better pads. It's easy to swap on these cars.
You'll feel the difference in initial bite and feel but stopping power will be the same unless you heat them up (130-20 a couple of times) then you'll really feel the difference with more fade. But for 99% that don't track the car they are more then enough. |

Griot's Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner is 95% as good as Sonax, costs much less, and can be found in local auto parts stores.
Key is to use it frequently. If you let the car go awhile before washing and the dust gets built up, it won't work well without brushing. Power washer also helps. Agree that coating the wheels (cquartz, optician, etc) is a good move. Look to see if you can find a detailer who will pull the wheels and really coat it well. That should eliminate the "behind the spoke" issue.
