Has the 'weather widget' gone again ?
After the recent problems that many of us, around the world, had with the 'Digital Clock and Weather' widget being replaced by that awful analogue clock, I thought that BMW had finally fixed it a couple of weeks ago.
However, for the last couple of days, although I still have the digital clock, the weather part of the widget is constantly displaying 'no data available'. Is it just me, or anyone else have the same problem ?

I never had a problem with weather when everyone else was. But the last couple days it didn't work for me. About 10 min ago I was in the car and weather worked again.

They had a major issue on their servers, going from Friday through Saturday evenening (german time). Wasn't just the widgets, it affected all of ConnectedDrive services.

Mine was out like everyone else a few weeks ago. It's been back since though.

Is the information available on a website somewhere ? I've thought for some time how much better it would be if BMW were to make available the current status of their online services, pretty much like mobile/cell phone networks do. Especially if there were issues affecting the service. We could then check to see if it was a known issue, rather than be concerned that there was something wrong with our individual cars.

Guys... BMW is updating the whole ConnectedDrive servers since last March due to the introduction of the BMW Store. This has been announced for a awhile now; full services are scheduled to come back by May.

They sure have some slow server upgrades! I can't think of any other internet facing service that displayed an upgrade message for months. Perhaps the new iDrive store will have Duke Nuk'em Forever.

I wondered the same thing so I am expecting something magical to explain the months of "upgrading"...

I just took my new car in on Friday and had trouble getting ConnectedDrive activated. It didn't work, their website reported "internal errors" and what have you. So I called them and they explained they were having issue (some backend outage, apparently). The issue went away by Saturday evening. At least in Germany. The probably have regionalized data centers, so it might have been different in other regions. |
