I love EVERYTHING about the X5M except for the rear bumper. It looks like it has a chin strap on for some reason.

Agreed! It's the indents at each corner...
Overall, the rear fascia seems quite tame vs other ///M cars. Still a beast though and I certainly would have no qualms owning one!

Are BMW's typically shipped uncovered on a truck, including a 100k+ SUV ?!
The Audi's I've seen on trucks are at least fully covered.

I've never seen BMW cars covered even the M cars. Only time they are covered somewhat during transit is if they are moving by rail cars.
They do however have hood covering and other parts with a white wrap as you can see from the pics.

I think rear bumper is the defining look for x5m now that fenders remain the same as regular X5. These quad tips are meancing! =)

Definitely uncovered (at least in my experience). My X5 must have been transported to the dealership with the back end facing forward on the top of the truck.

The entire back hatch was covered in bugs, you almost couldn't make out what model it was. Thankfully the dealership cleaned it all up prior to delivery and I didn't notice any damage to the paint from the cleanup.

Can't believe how rigid those racks are, there must be zero flex in them with the way those vehicles are loaded.

Interesting... Until last year, all bmws on the east coast were transported via a canvas covered truck, sometimes in piggy back config, see pics...

+1 I agree, also in the Midwest. I am surprised that BMW changed it. It looks cheap now. I guess they are trying to save money

+2

I thought BMW transported the new vehicles in covered car carriers.
