T-Boned

My wife's car got t-boned today coming home while driving through our favorite rotaries in Cambridge. A woman came sailing into the roundabout, chatting on her cellphone and BANG -- caved in the passenger side doors. THANKS! I hope it was an important phone call.

Luckily everyone is fine, including the other driver and her unbelted child. Unfortunately it was our old Volvo war wagon w/ 178k on it. I'm fearful that insurance is going to call it totaled ... we'll know next week.

And now I'm done venting.

Ouch...... rain + woman + cell phone + unbelted child (I assume old enough to not need car seat or booster seat?) = DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I drove to Oishii to pick up dinner with the wife and both ways, people were driving all over the road without any regards to the lines on the ground.

Glad that you are ok and it was only the Volvo that got hit. The older ones are built like tanks so you should be ok. However, don't settle anything medically until you're 100% certain that you have no injury, coz whiplash might not rear its ugly head for another day or two. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It's amazing how many times I've seen people do stupid things while talking on the phone glued to their head. Bluetooth earpieces are so cheap now, I don't see why more people don't use them.

BTW, which rotary was it? The ones by Fresh Pond? I travel through there very frequently and it's amazing what you see people doing. I've even seen someone go the wrong way through it!

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt.

Thanks.

It was the infamous Concord/Fresh Pond rotary. I commute through it to/from work every day ... and it is pretty amazing what goes on. The most fun I've had was a cyclist going against traffic in the middle of the rotary at night, during rush hour. He almost slid across my hood ... we both stopped less than a foot from each other.

Also noticed my wife's bumper cover is still there this evening.

I knew that was going to be the one. When I'm in that rotary, I always have 1 hand on the horn to keep people from trying to cut in front of you when they're entering it.

I'll probably be heading through there tomorrow, I'll see if I can see your bumper cover! What color is it? Is it the rotary that connects to Alewife Brook Parkway or the other one connecting Fresh Pond Pkwy by Sozios? It so ridiculous to have 2 of those things so close to each other!

I drive it the same way.

The bumper was still there this morning, against the outside curb heading toward Harvard Square. Please wave to it.
