Using glove box USB?

I successfuly loaded about 12 GB of music via the glove box USB socket a few days after getting this 2012 F30 a couple of weeks ago. (My first experience of iDrive, which I'm finding quite hard going to learn.) So 'Music Collection' now appears in the Media menu and I can play those tracks and playlists. But how can I now edit that collection please?

If I insert another mem-stick I can't even get it recognised under External Devices.

Is it possible (or perhaps necessary) to delete the music collection and start again? Now that I've also used the other USB port in the arm rest I'm not even sure I need the HDD music collection. And isn't the glove box socket needed for other things, such as updating map data and transferring pre-prepared routes to the navigation system?

Personally I don't use the internal storage, its just too small (IHMO).

If you have 2012 F30, then it sounds like you have the CIC ProNav, which came with a USB in glovebox and armrest. The glovebox USB is for transferring data and the armrest one was for everything else.

For those with the NBT, there is no glovebox USB. The armrest USB does everything.

I'm sure you can delete the music via the options screen.

I had this issue with my old F30. I'm going from memory (not the best), but as I recall, I had to format the thumb drive for FAT32 and the car was able to read it.

Thanks all. For the time being I've switched my attention to using the armrest USB, with its greater flexibility and playlist capability. Although I'm having similar problems with that:
