Spied: New M2 Prototype Valencia and Hood/Trunk Camo

Seems like we have possible hood bulge and modified trunk shape! If this has been seen already, my mistake. I have yet to see it here though.

Not sure if you're being serious or trolling because the car has no hip, no quad exhaust, no M front bumper, the mirrors are still the gray m235i mirrors, etc.

This is an old style prototype using an m235i as a mule. There are flares but they are not the production esque flares like the ones on the most recent black prototype. Also I don't see anything new with the hood.

Have there been prototypes in this color and with the hood or trunk camo'd? I would think there would be a reason for it if it's on there. And that's the point of the camo... You're not supposed to see anything new.

The car obviously has rear flares, look at the side skirt area. It's an old style prototype again.

I'm just curious why there are still running this style car.

Yes, there is some flare, but it is not the wide looking car that was spied in Munich that people were oogling over. Maybe this is the M240?

I don't see how what he said substantiates your claims. It's an M2 prototype based on an m235i, yes, but it's certainly not an m235i. It has flares and cutouts for a quad exhaust. You implied no flares, but clearly they are there. Maybe not full production flares, but they're close aside from not being integrated with the sideskirt.

Anyway, this gives me hope that we will see a different hood and Trunk, even if it isn't a bulge. That was the main point.

Does it make sense that they would use an older version of the test mule? All the shots we have seen as of late are of a car close to production (one that has a really wiiiiide hip and front fascia). Then you posted pix of a mule that barely have any hip and none of the things that have been spotted recently.

Let's say you're right. How do we go about explaining why BMW would take a step backward and use a different mule?

There are a lot of reasons to use an older version of a mule if the testing doesn't have anything to do with the bodywork.

The fact remains that this was just captured earlier today or yesterday. They're using it for something obviously. Maybe they are testing other things on the mules with newer flares and needed an extra mule to test some other variable which is independent of the new bodywork. Or are you suggesting that there is an m235 or m240i coming out with flared fenders? I think that's quite far fetched.

Seeing that the wheels are 19 inches and definitely ///M style, I'd say this is not an m sport model.

I definitely see the differences, the wider hips, the wheels etc. It's interesting the camo on the hood and trunk we might see something different who knows. The color is definitely something different, and I don't know if it's because of the exterior color but I'm looking at the interior looks more sakhir orange than coral red but it might be the exterior color. Hopefully we'll have a different hood/trunk and M mirrors. I'm still waiting to see how the interior is going to look like.

They have been reading the blogs and know that people are wanting to see a hood bulge...so they just slapped some camo on the hood to screw with us.

I prefer having an exciting poweplant with a flat hood (Stealth Mode) than an uninspiring engine with a fake hood bump. Yes, I'm prepared to live with the N54, just sayin'!

I totally agree, but it can't hurt! It's nice to have every body panel unique to the M version of the car if possible. It makes it that much more desirable, esoecially if it'd done with function in mind.

Maybe it's a secret, last minute S-engined prototype

I agree, we probably want too much of the first generation M2.
Leasing will be the way to go as there will be desirable improvements to each successive model year.
