BMW ruined one of my rims
I got my car back today after 4 days in the shop with brand new tires and 1 month old staggered rims (I bought off another member).
I inspected and cleaned them when I first got them btw... Finally tonight I brought my sweetheart home, and I started to clean them from all the white crap on them, and noticed my front left rim is scraped in THREE different areas around the rims!! My rear left also has 1 small scrape. I bought this to BMW to make sure I get the best installation and alignement. How do I proceed? Can they repair my rim? Compensation? Any experience would really be appreciated. I'll post a picture tomorrow morning.

I highly doubt you can recoup any money from the dealer because you already brought the car home.
Their argument (which is valid) is that anything can happen once you leave the dealer. That being said - I can be wrong and your dealer can be a great guy and help you out. Doubt it though

Approach it from a nice prospective. Provide pics of the wheels when you bough them showing no damage, say you only put them on right before you brought it in.
If they try to blow it off say be like "really, it really happened in the XX amount of miles it took me to drive home" The better dealerships know that shit can happen when the cars are in for service.

Have you ever let your wife/girlfriend/life partner park your car?
Jamias! Seriously... In the end I doubt they will do anything for you unless you can prove it happened while in their possession. |

I had an issue at discount tire with them putting a gouge in my front wheel. I didn't notice on my initial walk around after service because of the location of the damage. Went to pick son up at daycare and saw the damage immediately. Credit to discount tire, they took care of it and replaced it with a new wheel. 19" m403 m sport wheel.

I took pictures of the rims when I bought them in January. They weren't mounted on rims and its illegal to drive summer tires here unless its March 15 either way. This was DEFINiTELY done at the dealer.

I think it's how you approach your service manager. Be respectful but firm. I don't see why they wouldn't fix it.
Doesn't your dealer have a check in sheet that documents all your cars imperfections prior to drop off? You can use it as evidence if the damage was not noted on the sheet. |

I see damage on the pics that you posted. Looks like some road rash that has been powder coated....is it possible that the coating came off when they mounted them?

Yeah. Both pictures clearly show damage that has been bodged over previously. The second pic particularly so (at the 10 o'clock and 7 o'clock positions)

^ I bet youre right. If it was factory baked on then mounting equipment wouldnt hurt it but its probably just touch up paint so it got scraped off. Wheel wasnt repaired before it was painted.

So you start off with a thread titled "BMW ruined my brand new rims".
But then it turns out that they weren't so new. And had been previously damaged and then (badly) repaired. So they didn't ruin a set of 'brand new' rims at all. And in fact, you can't even be certain if they did it, or if you did it. After all, you hadn't even noticed the previous damage and repair until people on here pointed it out to you. EDIT : in fact, in your original post, you stated that you "inspected and cleaned them when I first got them btw". You didn't really inspect them very well, if you didn't notice the previous damage and repair. |

As you can see from the new attached pictures, there's definitely some damage in multiple areas.

I didn't see tire damage but I didn't inspect the tires 100%. I'll check.
I emailed the pictures to my SA and he said they're going to check the cameras...
