Thinking of moving to BMW and the M4...

Hi all, I have been reading the forum with much interest for a few weeks now and hope you guys maybe able to offer me some advice.

I have just recently sold my Audi RS5 and am considering moving to BMW and an M4. I have had a string of Audis for quite a few years now, A3, S3, S5 and finally the RS5. These cars have all been Quattro 4WD. I have actually never driven a powerful rear wheel drive car like the BMW.

These may sound silly questions, but would I have to change my driving style much in an M4? what are they like to drive in the wet and what is the overall level of grip like when 'pushing on'?

A salesman at my local dealer has said I can borrow one for a few hours, but I would really like to get your views as you guys drive them everyday. Am I worrying about nothing?!

Many thanks in advance

Dude so not true.

Awd: Do not floor it or you find yourself from a ditch because of under steer.

Rwd: Learn to control the tail or you end up in YouTube.

I've always preferred the later. I like speed.

I've tracked a 500 whp EVO IX and the rule was "FLOOR IT THROUGH THE TURN!" and it gripped every time

An evo is not a car, it's an illness.

Jk, but with Audis that rule is pretty damn solid.

4WD Audis (RS4, RS5 & TTRS) in my experience

Wet Road Grip - Good
Dry Road Grip - Very Good
Potential to Bite - Low
Fun Factor - Average

RWD BMW (BMW F82/M4) in my experience
Wet Road Grip - OK
Dry Road Grip - Very Good
Potential to Bite - High
Fun Factor - Excellent

Its not just the 4WD vs RWD with the M4 its also the Torque Monster Engine that needs to be harnessed ... its more alive than the Audis IMHO

Hi

I have just moved from a 2012 Audi S5 to a M4. No contest in terms of feel (ignore the power differences), BMW all the way.

During my 3 year ownership of the S5 I was initially impressed with off-line speed and traction, but soon got very bored with dull steering and handling. Maybe RS is a step better.

My have has had a few 120d MSports and to be honest found that a more engaging drive than the Audi.
