Sound Processor

Hello!

I'm looking for a new Sound Processor for my custom audio in my F30. I currintly have a Alpine Pxe-h650, and must say I'm not verry satisfied with this one...

So If you have one to recommend, please tell

Userfriendly and not too high price.

I am currently using Audison bit ten. I used to have a JBL MS8. I like the bit ten more though because you can actually tune it using a laptop. I am no expert on this things but IMO this set up I think is better than with the MS8. Though with the ms8 I didnt use any amp. Where as I use JL x400/4 with the bit ten. But Im still trying to tune it to my taste and I might get some professional to get it done. But then again, thats just me. Others might say otherwise.

Thanks. JBL MS8 is a bit out of my price range. It is quite expensive here in Norway. The Audison bit ten is more like what I want to pay. Someone else got some good experiense with the Audison? Or any other suggestions on a DSP?

EDIT:

How is JL Audio Cleansweep compared to JBL MS8, Audison Bit Ten, Alpine PXA-H800?

I don't think the JL cleansweep is an actual DSP. I think its just designed to de-equalize factory signals that aren't flat.

"Many factory stereos use built-in equalization designed to make cheap factory speakers sound better, but this dressed-up signal can prevent aftermarket speakers from living up to their potential. The CleanSweep uses a 32-bit digital signal processor to remove the factory adjustments, then sends your external amplifiers a perfectly clean signal."

If you have the HiFi stereo, you already have a flat signal, so the cleansweep would be pointless. You probably want something that offers equalization and time correction.

If you want a DSP with auto tune, I believe your only options are the MS8 or the PXA-H800. If you want to have more flexibility and the ability to fine tune, then look at the Helix DSP or Rockford 3sixty.3. I'm not too sure how the Bit Ten would do. I believe it only has 5 output channels. If that works with your particular speaker setup, then it should be fine. I'm no expert though, so hopefully more people can chime in.

I got the base EU 6 speaker stereo. I dont use any eq with the Alpine PXE-H650. Just ran the Auto-eq. And was happy with that. Problem with this DSP is that the sound isn't clean. It got some picking/knitting-nois at medium to high volumes.

I dont know of this is a known problem with these DSP's or if mine got some issues. Have tripple chacked my wiring for any bad connections, and everythings seems to be in good order. So I'm pretty sure the DSP is the problem.

So I'm basically just looking for a simple and good DSP that can give me clean sound.

If you are aware of how to use EQ yourself by listening to the played source and do not need a auto EQ, I would highly recommend Mosconi 6to8. The software of it is super easy to understand (yepp-computer software).

Helix DSP or DSP pro, or if you want a single unit amp/dsp with some power P SIX.

Thanks alot everyone! The Soundstream HARMONY 8-Channel DSP caught my attention. It's more in the price-range I'm looking for.

its just as good, biggest difference is the others can intergrate into the most wigged out oem eqd systems out there and flatten there input so you get a flat output.. that's there biggest advantage, the soundstream cant due what those other two can due as far as that goes, but its dsp processing is the same as..

I'm happy with my Audison Prima 8.9bit. It's not only processor but 8ch amp, wich allows you to power 8 separate channels, tune it individualy (time correct. eq etc.) and it sounds amazing

You can skip the DSP in the Stereo (no OEM amp) system by using component speakers with adjustable tweeter outputs level at the crossover.

Tweeter output level gives only the tune of volume, not time correction wich allows you to obtain the perfect matching tweeter with midrage.
You know, I used to practise passive crossovers in all my caraudio systems before, but when I now for the first time installed AP 8.9 and give each speaker separate channel finelly tuned, I was really shocked, I never expected what the time correction can change the sound. The passive crossover are dead for me anymore. Sorry for my English

The OP asked about a Cleansweep (DSP) which is used for signal correction via digital conversion. My post is an analog alternative.

Audison Bit Ten if you'll use hivoltage input from speakers,
Audison Bit TenD if you have NBT you can use optical output
