M4 Leather Seat Wear Issue
Anyone noticing a scratching appearance type of wear? It's on the center portion of the driver's seat. Couldn't get pics to upload from phone. Will try to upload later.

That's the most wear I have seen on that area. There are lots of threads here showing wear but that's nuts. Also very dirty. EDIT is this black or ss? Light playing tricks on me.
Are you exceptionally hard on equipment? Are you a ninja turtle and your shell needs some tlc? If this is what you daily drive is doing I would change something up. Maybe trade for an f250? Just kidding a little but seriously what have you been wearing? |

I had a problem with the sensor on that portion of the seat on my E92. I know it's not the same - yours is a wear issue - but my point is that if it's like the E92 (I don't have my F82 yet) then center piece pops out relatively easily (it's not like you have to replace your whole seat) and I'd imagine it'd covered under warranty.

Looks like scratches from the Junk area
Do you drive home after a football or soccer game with your cup on? I was going to say large junk issue but no-homo please |

No offense man but maybe vacuum out the food from the seat seams now and then
As for the scratches almost has to be a jeans studs or similar clothes issue as this is not normal wear by any measure.

Thanks all!
That's black Merino leather in the sunset. Yes, daily driver. I don't own a pair of studded jeans. Yes, seats need a vacuum, but still, odd wear. Seems defective to me. |

I have a small spot of similar wear on the side of the seat. I had thought defective and that it was due to seatbelt rub, but it seems to me now that this was actually due to a somewhat abrasive coat I wore a lot during winter. The coat would flop over the side and rub while I was in the seat. That's my guess anyway. The only other thing I think would cause what you have there is moisture................. cough.
but hey, I think you can buy a replacement for that portion of the seat for like 750 bucks. So if it's due to your own extra activities in the front seat, at least it isn't too much to get replaced. I think thats what I remember seeing when I was looking at the part numbers anyway.

How many miles have you covered. I would put that down to your clothing. There is no way that mild abrasion could do that. Maybe the seam of your jeans or something similar.

It is very strange that the wear is down the center of the seat - that's not a normal wear pattern. It looks like someone sanded the seat cushion with sandpaper.
You don't have to replace the cushion. It can be refinished. I never had to with black, but have had several seats that were light gray refinished through the dealer and they looked great!

Have a look see but they are going to think the same as me. You spilt something or had a small stain so went at it with a course brillo or brush and ruined the seat.

Well maybe a little but nothing compared to some on the forum - my eyes kept trailing back to all the crumbs in the crevices - seem to really stick out to me in the pic, maybe just the light .... OK, borderline OCD
