BMW Service Center in Greece has never heard of a walnut blast...
...or anything like it. They say they have NEVER cleaned the valve intakes of a 335 and intimated that I must be crazy thinking my car needed this.
I sent an SA the video from youtube of BavAuto demonstrating the process, they watched it and the reply was that BMW has provided no official guidance for this process, and therefore it isn't something they can do. They said if I want my valve intakes cleaned by them, they'd need to open the entire topside of the engine and do it by hand. This is the only official BMW in Athens. Guess I'm on my own...

Japan's debt to GDP is actually higher... but unlike Greece, they do have enough economic output to cover it and not require huge bailouts.
Back on topic, cleaning it by hand is a viable method, plenty of people have done it. The walnut blast is just easier and faster. To do it by hand, you remove the IM and then use cleaners and brushes, people DIY with gun brushes. I don't know what a dealer would charge for it since it's somewhat labor intensive. |

I was here before all that, I'll be here long after its finished. But listen guys, I'm not sensitive, but you guys should be a bit more so. People are really suffering here, it's no joke. Under 30s unemployment is 50% and contrary to the wads of bullshit you hear in the press, the people themselves being natural tax dodgers (they are, I won't deny it) is NOT what brought us to this point. It was banks lending to people they knew couldn't pay for short term profit, knowing that the central banks would bail them out. Now that everything is fucked, the poorest people are paying. I'm lucky I'm ok for now, but everything could change any time. we've done what we can to protect our assets, but its hardcore

I think the conversion to Euro currency was a terrible plan to begin with. Central Bank is worse than Mafia. If you do further research, they basically run the whole world and will keep control of this world by any mean. Even in US, the FED(central Bank and nothing related to the government) aren't allowed to be audited. They interest income they make, the power to print money, it's pure devil.

The crazy thing is they are unwilling to write off pure interest. The country is fucked and they still want to make a profit. Absolutely shameful behavior from certain northern european countries and the Central Banks, I say that as an independent onlooker, like I say, I'm not personally in trouble yet, and I can always go back to the UK tomorrow if I have to, I feel somewhat detached, except for the fact that I see the results every day.
There was a time, shortly after a certain german dictator was toppled, that a certain northern european nation owed the rest of the world far more than it could ever pay back. In the name of goodwill and growth, many nations including Greece, wrote off the MAJORITY of the war debt to help Europe get back on track as a whole. Now the shoe is on the other foot...well...you see it yourselves.

I apologize if I was rude. But you're right, it's not tax dodging. It sounds great to blame people for not paying taxes, but even if they hit 100% collection of taxes, it wouldn't pay off the debts. Just makes for better sound bites and gives people someone to blame.
Way too much gov't borrowing; that was the downside of joining the EU, cheap borrowing, but having one currency for multiple economies severely limits options. Quote:

Maybe speak with the Service manager or someone else. I've found out that one SA might be a total noob and speaking with someone else with more knowledge can be helpful.
That or go to a good reputable Indy shop.

Walnut blasting isn't as common as you would think reading on this form.
I'm in the US and I'm not able to find anywhere within an hour or so does it. I think the old way of doing it, which the dealer may be saying they could do, is to pull the head and give it a chemical cleaning.

You found an open BMW service center? I'm surprised they aren't on strike. Or rioting. Or napping.

Harbor freight also has online coupons for basically anything. Do a few google searches before paying full price. (Not that full price is much...)

I donate to orphanages and children's welfare related charities more than those who are poor. This year (tomorrow in fact) I will donate $200 of my restaurant vouchers (company perk, normally $100, but $200 for Easter) in order to help a local children's charity get some chocolate eggs in the orphanages. I also donated 20 random small child's christmas presents last christmas from my christmas bonus. My wife sponsors the education of children in Africa who are much worse off than any Greek. All this while I'm currently trying to save money for some cosmetic parts for the car. Anyway... Back on topic, I'm going to look into buying the harbour freight stuff required for a DIY, I saw the list posted recently in another thread.

How much would it be to ship the Harbor Freight stuff to Greece? It seems rather bulky. If you intend to DIY, it may be easier to get the items needed to go the manual method with brushes and such.

I'm used to paying as much for shipping as for the items being shipped. /grumble I often have to pay 23% VAT as well. It's plain crazy ordering stuff from the US, but sometimes it has to be done.
