pardon my ignorance but how do these compare to the others? I assume it will need an o2 sensor or a valve module to control the flaps and the CEL.

compared to others they are all pretty much the same bottom line. some offer flex like oem has and some offer ceramic coating to keep cool as well. Of course the more features you have the more they cost.

valve module has nothing to do with downpipes. you are referring to the evc controller which just happens to control both the valves and cel.

yup that's right... I wouldnt want to see the CEL on the dash all the time so I would need something to turn that off... and being able to open and close the flaps on demand doesnt hurt either.
