Help plz, key locked inside
Hi guys
Long story shorts, 30mins ago, I went outside to get my staffs in the trunk of my bmw f32. I forgot the key in the trunk and closed it. Usually, it will pop up if key is inside but I'm not sure why this time it allowed me to close it. My 2nd key is in my house 130km away from here and I don't have remote assist too. Comfort access didn't work too (underneath kick) It worked when I played with it now I can't believe this feature did not work when I need it the most. Any option for me rather than finding the way to travel back to my house geting spare key? Thanks |

Call the connected drive assistance; with security you may be able to get it remotely opened. I have never used it, I have the remote access via the app sorted to help get around this. Assistance from fellow enthusiastic on the continent would be useful here for telephone numbers...

Remote app does NOT work for this. For safety reasons. You can only lock with the remote app. You need to call BMW assist. A pain but still better than some ghetto dude getting in there for a fee.

Is this an American continent thing? We have both a lock and unlock function in the UK....what rules do you have that deem unlocking as a safety issue?

But can you still unlock the car from the console if you gained entry with this method? I would assume not. The seats can't be dropped in a saloon from the inside, can they (like our F32, this is released from the boot/ trunk only)? But if you have the ski hatch, perhaps this is the entry point? It'd be useful to know. |

Don't know the reason, but I can see where a hacker could easily gain access to car contents through this app. For example a key logger on your smartphone that records your PIN. Or maybe a server-side intrusion. Or just some petty thief in the street. It seems like BMW USA tolerance of the risk was lower than its European counterparts when they took that decision. |

Call BMW roadside and get it towed to a dealer, considering the car is not working as its supposed to they would have to cover and fix any damage to get the car open
plus it will document your case Last edited by xlover; 03-30-2015 at 02:06 PM.. |

I thought BMW disabled ability to directly unlock car doors from the smartphone app due to this hack. I think this particular hack only applies to the CIC platform and not NBT, but they probably felt better safe than sorry.

Not that it helps the OP, but this is why BMW should provide an emergency key that you can keep in your wallet. Technically this isn't supposed to be able to happen, but no engineer has yet found a way to get around Murphy's Law.
OP, see if you can use a straightened out coat hanger to go through the window gasket and reach the master unlock button. Since the key is in the car the alarm should not be activated. |

The BMW Remote app uses pin based authentication, but the iPhone app has the ability to use TouchID for authentication.
