Wiring Radar Detector

Has anyone hardwired their radar detector to their F36? I would like to hard wire my Escort 9500 to my rear view mirror using an Invisicord. I think it is pretty straight forward. Any suggestions?

I just wired my valentine to the rear view then used the blend mount to hang it. I believe its the green cord for power and brown for ground once you take the plastic off the mirror mount. Very simple to do, shouldn't take you more than an hour with 10 minute breaks every 5 minutes.

I have a Beltronics STi-R + installed in the car. The little display and controller are very discreet, and I get very early alerts (as much as a mile and a half with CHP K-Band they use in California) even with the receiver stuffed behind the grille.

The unit runs about two grand at full retail, but I got it for $750 on eBay, then paid about $500 to get it installed.

Blendmount with a mirror tap cable. Good choice.

So CHP is using K not Ka band? Need to remember that the next time we drive down there.

So, I used an Invisicord to wire my Escort 9500 to my mirror. I connected the red wire of the Invisicord to the green wire located on the mirror and the green Invisicord wire to the brown wire on the mirror. The Escort powered up, no problem. After about 30 mins, the Escort will no longer turn on. WTF? Any ideas?

I just installed an invisicord today, I noticed the plugs are not terribly secure. I would check your connections again to make sure that it didn't rattle or squeeze loose.

Overall the invisicord installation took me about 5 minutes, but I had to remove it and redo it because in the process of putting the zip ties on I loosened the pins slightly. I'll live with it for a week and see if it loosens again do to vibration.

I lay the wire (1.5 mm2) down via roof cover, side vertical cover right to passenger under glove box socket. It's the most reliable way due to the fuse rating.

Typo. It's Ka.

Recently got a ticket for 71 in a 55 on a deserted country road at night. That was a lot better than the 135 when the alert went off!
